breaking news: NAMBLA votes GOP

54% of catholics voted for Obama in 2008. I don't recall Obama complaining of a headache then. If he loses that majority, that will certainly cause him a headache.

I meant more the shepherds (bishops), not the flock.

could you be more specific, or are we supposed to guess which article on the site you intended to reference?

come on, this is the internet, we have higher standards here. get with the program.

Saw that. Corrected it - I think. Pooh on your higher standards.

Last election, there was division even at the level of the Bishops. They might be less divided this time around because they feel they got burned supporting Obamacare though...I don't know.

edit: I don't like how political they're getting. Last time around they voted to publish a document that could be interpreted to support either party. Before that, I don't remember them ever saying anything that actually made it into churches. When I was younger, I actually thought there had to be some rule against it because they never mentioned elections. While I've still never heard any talk of specific parties or candidates in a church, I've seen news stories suggesting that the firewall has failed in some parishes.

In a perfect world, they would lose their tax exempt status, and the increased revenues would go toward hiring and training better public school teachers, providing better healthcare (or healthcare period) to people that are unable to afford it, providing rehabilitation services for drug addicts, free breakfasts, lunches and clothing and school supplies to kids in low income areas, and better counseling and conditions for the prison population.

at least... that's what Jesus would do, if I remember my New Testament correctly. But I don't know for sure; it's been a while since I've either been to church or taken any biblical studies.

I heard a rumor that the Pope has since had the gospels re-written to include passages from Atlas Shrugged.

Well, if tax exemption bothers you, how do you feel about $2.7B in government support?

DNC turned down a Dolan offer to invoke their convention.

Pffff... if that's what they're paying out, it means they're taking in ten times that in untaxed income.

Read that again. I'm not talking about what they're paying out. The $2.7B is money from the government.

...and that's not the Church (tChurch?,) that's just an affiliated charity.

Apparently, that money comes from the G.W. Bush initiated Office of Faith-Based Initiatives.
