Get StartedJarryd Hayne is my guess.
We've got 1 rb and a slot receiver that the Lions staff still think is a rb. So, yeah, I think he'll make the team. Bell and Hayne this coming year, then solely Gurley the next year. Gurley round 2
Haynes is a special teamer at best for this year. That's if he makes the team.
Gurley is going in rd 1 I'm predicting. Especially if his knee checks out. I know he wasn'r letting the docs look at his knee at the combine, but he just had surgery. Poking around at that knee wasn't an option for Gurley ...smart move. This kid is a rare talent and the Lions would be foolish to pass on him in the 1st.
Bell is no workhorse, but he's solid. Riddick is a specialist catching the ball. Gurley is a monster. A trio of Gurley, Bell and Riddick would be scary.

With the needs this team has on the lines, the Lions would be extremely foolish to choose ANY running back in the 1st round. The NFL is full of productive mid-later round RB's. Drafting a running back in the first while failing to address the line that provides the hole for that back would be stupid.
Now, if we resign Suh, Fairley and get a good free agent OL.....then MAYBE I can see grabbing Gurley. However, I'd still go get a future starter on the OL or in the secondary and draft Jeremy Langford in the 3rd. I think the production would be very close to Gurley's....there are no injury concerns....and you get better value with the 1st rounder.
im fine with Riddick Bell combo. Shouldn't draft a 3rd string rb before the 5th round. The only exception I think we should even consider is if Melvin Gordon drops to us. I wouldn't do it....but the value would be there.
They are looking at Tevin Colman in the draft.
Gurley or Gordon wouldn't be a 3rd string RB though. Day one starter...
It's Mayhew...he's actually looking at Tevin Campbell.
If it's Mayhew he's probably looking at old episodes of Diff'rent Strokes (which I just realized as I wrote it, the title of that show was borderline offensive).
