I hope the Lions put in a claim for this guy and drop Fluellen. I think he has upside. UDFA or not. Fluellen will never be anything more than depth anyway on this roster.
 
I would rather keep Fluellen. He knows the system and Thornton wouldn't be anything other than depth as well on this roster.

I think Thornton needs a year or two to play at the NFL level coming from a small school. His upside is greater IMO. When CW is gone in a couple years, we'd have a nice core with Suh, Fairley, SLH, and him. Fluellen will always be the 5th DT here and has zero upside entering his 4th season.
 
Flu plays DE also, they like his versitility. He is nothing more than a back up but they know he can get it done when called on.

I like Flu...nothing wrong with good depth and his versatility in playing DE will keep him on this team
