Could Kelly end up in Michigan?

PM ETDetroit Lions Recommend2Comments0Email With ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that Chip Kelly, the current coach of the Oregon Ducks, is certainly going to be in a position to fend off NFL suitors once his team's season is over, it makes sense to take a look around the league to see what teams might be interested in his services.

Such a tour around the bottom of the NFL standings starts with Romeo Crennel's tenuous position in Kansas City and continues on to Carolina (Ron Rivera) and Jacksonville (Mike Mularkey) all of which might be willing to cut ties with their current leaders for 2013. However, with a lot of offensive weapons already in place, could the Detroit Lions be the ultimate winner of Kelly's services?

Jim Schwartz did lead his club to the post-season last year, but they lost their playoff contest and the Lions currently rank just 13th in total points scored despite leading the league in passing yards. Oregon is ranked first in the NCAA with 54.8 points per game, and in the end, that's the only statistic that truly counts.

I am shocked at the level of rumour and innuendo reporting such a reputable bastion of journalism like The Bleacher Report has sunk to.

What about a holmgren gm/ andy reid coach combo? I still think our biggest issue is mayhew. 2nd is our coordinators. But if it takes a new head coach to get new coordinators than im all for it.

Schwartz is here for a looong time. Better get used to it.

Schwartz just signed an extension, he's not getting fired. And by the way, they made the playoffs last year. Damn, our fanbase is awful.

Rex Ryan made back to back AFC championships and see how long he lasts if the Jets have another year like this one. NFL = not for long and with good reason, talent has a very limited shelf life. Most want Gunther and Scott gone, and can't see that happening with Schwartz here. I'd be happy if those two were handed their walking papers after the season.

Schwartz is perfectly safe....and he should be. Now the coordinators are a different story.
