Fifth-round LB Tahir Whitehead "impressed Lions coaches with his explosiveness" at rookie minicamp.
Whitehead's new coaches were also impressed with his ability to "digest a new scheme." The Detroit Free Press believes Whitehead could "turn out to be the surprise pick of the draft this fall." If Whitehead makes an impression as a rookie, it will almost certainly be on special teams.

They always say good things, but I really like seeing that we have a young LB with explosiveness. We could use a little of that.

could be bye bye to both Durant & Levy next year. If so, It will help the cap situation for 2013

If he can lock down a future spot, and Hogue/Lewis locks down the other, it'd be HUGE for the Lions going forward. Realistically, we should probably only hope for one of these three young LBs to develop into a starter. The staff loves Levy, I could see him getting re-signed, with a battle for the other spot

Too injury-prone to rely on though

I don't know. He played at least 13 games every year except one in which he played 10. Sure, injury prone but I'll take him for 13 games a season. Just pay him accordingly.
