Concern about Tennessee?

Tennessee was a very average team the entire season. They beat a completely overrated Umass, and is now playing a Mercer team that probably exhausted itself with the win over Duke. I get March Madness is a different animal, but Michigan is a well-oiled machine right now, and should be able to handle them.

I think it really doesn't come down to what Tennessee does. If you guys make shots you win. If you shoot 5-20 from 3 you probably lose.

Well Tennessee might legitimately be the best rebounding team left in the tourney. This plays right into Michigan's weakness. I don't care how well Michigan shoots, if they get crushed on the glass they will lose. I don't care if Tennessee 'isn't as good', this is about it being a bad matchup. Also, Ken Pom rates them as a better team for whatever that is worth. It is not a perfect system but it does suggest that Tennessee's final record may have been on the unlucky side.

Morgan and Horford need to be on their game. I hope they don't underrate this team.

Agree

Tenn shoots better than Texas, and defends better

If we don't hit all those 3s it could be closer

@BFQuinn: Also, re. Tennessee/Texas, Vols' defensive length on the perimeter and ability to close out on shooters is the biggest difference.

He is writing for mlive now but had been covering tenn

Texas is actually a stronger rebounding team than Tennessee. I heard the exact same concerns about Texas, and Michigan handled it just fine. Tenn is not a good perimeter shooting team. Play a zone, and force those guys to make shots.

They definitely should drop in low a bit and double the post. Let Tennessee chuck it from outside.

Ridley dominated ASU on the glass, he was seeming to have a field day against them down low. Morgan really held his own, and forced him into difficult spots.

Well Texas had 41 to our 30 and we still beat them by 14 :/

I have come to think that in JB's system he just wants to be close in the rebounding wars.
Sure its great to win every game..

Texas had 9 turnovers to our 5
16 fouls to our 12.
We had 2 more assists then they did.
we had 5 steals to their 3
They had 3 blocks shots to our 2.
They were 15/16 FT.
we were 17/21.

Texas shot 37.1%
we shot 44.4%

oh.. We had 14 threes to Texas 4..

I think it is ok to lose the rebounding wars just win the other categories.

Just have to post this here if you remember last year

@JohnBeilein: Thx to Mich fans for the support this week! Sweet 16 and on to Indy.Thinking about getting a nice Sub tonight. It could get crazy! Go Blue!

Duke and coach K. must be kicking themselves... Letting that Mercer game slip away..

Michigan should be confident. Sounds like a similar matchup to their previous one.

Is it 3 or 4 sec teams in sweet 16... Someone check my math... I count three..

The only real problem I had with the team yesterday was jacking up the three when it clearly did not need to be taken. There was that stretch that they did not set up and burn clock to get a better shot. The guys get excited and they want more, but when someone is in your face and you are 7ft well beyond the arc.....please don't shoot it.
