Cut players I'd like to see in Detroit

The cut list didn't have many shockers or even big names, but there are a few I wouldn't mind seeing the Lions make a run at.

RB- Jonathon Grimes. The kid looked pretty darned good for Houston in the preseason. I think he's got some legs on him and could do some damage.

G- Mike Person. He's only 24 and I think he's better than any backup currently on our roster.

C- Dan Koppen. Okay, he's not young, in any way. But right now I'd take a 10lb. sack of potatoes over Riola.

CB- Dominique Franks. A third year guy that I think has showed signs of solid talent. He's played better each year in the league, and this might just be his year to step it up a notch and be a reliable third or fourth corner.

S- Troy Nolen. I don't know a whole lot about him, other than he's young, he has started a few games, and a lot of folks say he will get a lot of interest. With S being so thin for us, I'd take Riola back there if he was taller.

I might be in the minority on this one....but I thought Wendling played pretty damn good in the preseason. He has his coverage problems, yes. But he is a hitter and has a presence that Spinless Spivey doesn't.

Wendling is about 10 lbs from being an OLB but has pretty good speed too. To me, he is the best of what we currently have to start opposite Delmas.....especially with our problems against the run.

I think I'd rather have Coleman across from Delmas because I think he's better in pass coverage. If Wendling becomes better in pass coverage than Coleman, put him in. In my opinion, our line and linebackers are decent against the run most of the time, but our secondary has major problems defending the pass. That's why I prefer whoever is better in coverage.
