Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine was all about the podium interviews for the big guys on defense. One of the top D-line prospects is Missouri’s versatile Darius Robinson, and he’s been a popular projection for the Detroit Lions’ first-round pick in recent weeks.

For Robinson, a Detroit native and a graduate of Canton High School, it would be a wonderful match. Robinson was asked about the idea of playing for his hometown Lions.

“Oh yeah, that would be a huge opportunity. Detroit, that’s my hometown,” Robinson said excitedly.

He also noted his work with new Lions DL coach Terrell Williams while at the Senior Bowl. Robinson had a great week in Mobile, one that has sprung him higher into the collective conscience of both Lions fans and NFL draft enthusiasts.

“Coach T, man, just be violent, be physical, pad level, get off,” Robinson told of the style Williams wants him to play. “He’s a great coach.”

Robinson primarily played a more interior line role for his first few seasons at Missouri. In his final year, he lost a little weight and played more out against the offensive tackles. He noted he’s willing to play wherever any team asks him, including the Lions.

“One day at a time, let’s see what happens,” Robinson said about the potential of playing in Detroit.
