Yu Darvish reached 500 k's before anyone else in history. 500 k's in 401.2 innings. Broke Kerry Wood's record of 404.2 innings.

He replaced Kerry Wood. Wood was a rookie in 1998 and sat out 1999. Wood was 24 when he did it. Darvish is 28.

Also...

Billy Wagner did it in 343.3 IP and Rob Dibble did it in 368.3 IP (as examples), so they must mean starters.
