Drafted by the Pelicans with the 56th pick which was then traded to the Clippers for cash. I know he is extremely challenged offensively but I have thought for a while that if I had a late pick in the 2nd round I would look at Dawson, the rebounding and athleticism are there, if he could just develop a little 12 foot jump shot he could be alright.

The Clippers targeted him before the draft.

The perfect landing spot for Dawson as the Clips have only one other SF on the roster. The Clips also are already 3rd in the league in 3 pointers and 1st in scoring, so they're looking for toughness and versatility. The fact that Dawson is the only player the Clippers added last night also is great for his chances to make the team. Unless the Clips add a player or two at SF/PF, Dawson is going to make that team. Perfect addition to lob city. Also a great coach for someone like Dawson.

Happy for BJ, he's going to have an NBA career.

Dawson played great in summer ball and earned himself a two year contract with the first year being guaranteed. League minimum deal which is $535k a year.

Not bad! I knew he'd make it even though most people here doubted it. He has things you can't teach (athleticism, toughness) and lacks things that can with the right guidance be gained (shooting, dribbling).

Hopefully he works hard and sees some playing time!
