he will probably have a hard time getting that against MSU, and I don't see the coaches running him as much down the stretch. then again... if he has big games (150+ yards) against Minnesota and Nebraska or ohio* (all three have poor defenses) he could make it right there.

does the Bowl game count?

just another reason to wish for Michigan to win the Legend's division, another game for Denard and more rushing statistics, along with all of the other reasons, of course.

yeah, forgot about that. we could play 14 games this season.

How many games did it take White to set the record? I hope DXR breaks it on Saturday, and if not then by the end of the regular season.

I dont know exactly how many rushes Pat had, but he started since he was a freshman. And his best season stats don't touch denards.

sweet: Denard breaking the record

irritating: RichRod going on some stupid sports show and bragging about "his guys" being 1 & 2.

would be nice if the interviewer said "You da man, Rich! Hey, by the way, your defense sucks at Arizona too, even though you got Casteel this time. What excuses have you got for our listeners at home?"

I was just about to make a remark like that ^^^

"And Denard Robinson becomes the most prolific running QB in CFB History with that run ..."

"Yep, not surprised. Got to bake the cookies, just couldn't eat them," heard muttered somewhere in suburban Tucson.

Pat White's stats -------- Denard's Stats

Att Yards AVG TD ----- Att Yards AVG TD
684 4480 6.5 47 ------ 647 4033 6.2 41

I am a little shocked I would have thought Denard would have a better average. Regardless he is fun to watch even though he makes you hold your breath sometimes and he has turned the ball over way to much.

Denard had to play in the Big Ten... Pat White got to play in the BigLeast.

And Pat White rarely faced defenses anywhere near the average talent-level of the defenses Denard has faced...

SEC twerps and little brothers of former M coaches can bag on the BigTen all they want - bottom line is that the more physical style of play can do to "basketball on grass" what a good, solid Bad Boys defense can do to a "fastbreak full court team."

Well, Arizona has a shitty defense because the cupboard was bare when he got there. He doesn't have HIS players yet! Wait 3, 4, 7, 10 years down the road when they are in place and then people will see!!

Yes, a coach should not come out in public and say these things, but that doesn't necessarily make them wrong. A lot of fans are saying the same things about Hoke and Co "Well, with this recruiting, wait until 2015 and he'll have things really flying." Now I think Hoke is doing a helluva job right now, but some fans want to wait for it.

You're right that the excuses can have truth behind them, but it still all boils down to wins and losses. Losing 2 games and season and making that excuse vs. losing 9 games a season and making that excuse are two very different things. "The cupboard is bare so you can't expect to win them all" is different from "the cupboard is bare so we have just about the worst defense in the nation."

...not that I ever expect Michigan to win them all.

edit: I still remember that "decimated defense" post. Reminds me of the Iowa running back thing.

well, no coach should ever be making excuses, period. what's the point? he's basically saying that his team is NOT going to win games... which is his job to do.

and certainly when you go 3-9, or 5-7 and have a different excuse for the loss each week, it starts to look like the coaches are not doing their jobs, since no team ever goes a single season with veterans in every position, no injuries, years of experience playing one type of offense, perfect weather, no blown coverage, no mistakes, etc. etc.

I was addressing the issue of fans making excuses. Of course we're all in agreement about coaches making excuses.

well... fans can do whatever they want, I guess.

it only becomes an issue if management is dumb enough to listen to them on matters pertaining to coaching, and game-strategy.

like they say "If you listen to the fans, you end up sitting with them."

was going to say, see, e.g. Bill Martin, but we all know he actually listened to Lloyd Carr, not the fans, as part of his brilliant plan to get RichRod hired and then fired, so that Brady Hoke could come coach.
