OK, I don't know if everyone knows this, but last week, Denard had a minor surgery to remove an abscess on his elbow. Denard looked much improved in the Minn game compared with a few of his previous games. This improvement was not just in the short passing game, despite some posters' assertions. Several of his throws in the intermediate range were, also, right on the money. Do you guy think this improvement is related to his surgery, a product of playing a crappy opponent, or just improvement based on repitition and working on things in practice, or all of the above?

Hopefully, whatever it is/was, it continues.

an abscess is a flesh infection, not related to tendons, ligaments, joints, etc., so I don't think it would directly affect his throwing motion, unless it was located such that it was causing him pain when he threw the football.

his passing looked more accurate, but it appeared they tried some different things in terms of moving him around before throws.

Like our ranking, I think we'll have a better idea whether the improvement was opponent-related or actually legitimate when we play @ MSU. If he throws well there, I'll feel better about our chances down the stretch.

I'm thinking the abscess was probably causing some discomfort.

Yes, we shall see.

Would be nice if the minny game was a sign of how denard will pass for now on. We're a dangerous team when we can pass.

I don't think we will have to wait till the MSU game. NW should be a good test, at least for the Defense. I wager to think we will know a lot after Saturday!

Maybe the elbow had something to do with it, but I think the playcalling was probably the biggest reason for improvement. I was very happy to see all of the quick, short passes. Now, he hadn't even been that accurate on those throws earlier in the season, but maybe it was a case of building up his confidence by putting him in positions to succeed early in the game. If the short passing game can once again be a weapon that'll open up the deep lobs even more.

The Mrs and I watched the Minny game again last night after the dude went to bed -- offensive play calling was awesome. First play of the game, a bullet to Gallon and on from there. Arm looked good to me and definitely better than say .... the noter dame sucks game.

This thread is about Denard's throwing, not the rest of the team, not the defense, just Denard's throwing...we might have to wait until the MSU game to see if he's fixed it.
