Josina Anderson of ESPN reports:

I'm told free agent TE Dwayne Allen is in Buffalo now to visit the #Bills. Allen is also currently scheduled to travel to Detroit tonight for visit the #Lions next, as of now, per source.

Looks like the Lions are serious about solving the gap at TE.

He could be a plug and play fix for us, but his production was non-existent with the Pats last year.

From NE to Buffalo and Detroit. Ouch.

He got his ring, and he got his money. Now it's time to be a blocking TE with value, because he's not much of a pass catcher.

I would rather be the blocking TE on ANY NFl team than the starting pass catching TE in the AAF. He's not hurting.

I'm all for it if he can block. I think Pettigrew was considered a blocking TE when drafted and soon realized he's wasn't much of a blocker.

"dude its like having an extra LT out there"

"oh really? then why have we averaged 2 YPC the last 4 years?"

Brutal list of FA TEs this year. Id go after Cook so you atleast have the pass catching part down....look for the blocking TE in the mid-late rounds of the draft.

Lions need two tight ends. Allen would replace Toilolo. Let's see the price tag before we get our panties in a bunch

Colts got Ebron. We get revenge and get former Colt Dwayne Allen. Boom

How is it revenge? They got a good TE our brilliant coaches couldn?t figure out how to use and we get an old, average TE??

Might want to visit Webster?s and see what the meaning of revenge is.

This is the type of guy we need. Good blocker and can catch the ball if necessary. Unless Stafford and the offense changes dramatically.

Here is what our slow Lion fan had to say when Ebron was a Lion

Ebron is too good to let walk. Just scratching the surface

30 percent from a lot for Ebron. 29th for tes. 8th best receiving te in yards. What a stud. Now he gets more slot time. Can't wait. 900 yards and 6 tds incoming

Ebron produces better than 14 number 2 wrs and 28 number 3 WRs and 2 number 1 WRs in the league. 8th most te yards. 5 of the 6 number 3s that beat him had 95 targets or more. Some way over like Rudolph and pitta

He is a stud is what he is. Stud receiving weapon and the lions 4th most target. Loaded with weapons
Being 8th in TE yards is not a waste at all. Plus his potential is 900-1,000 yards for 16 games.

Roberts can't stetch the seam or get YAC on a cross. Roberts will find the holes in the zone and be a redzone threat. Ebron a big weapon for 2017 and 2018 at 3.8 and 8.5 million cap hits. And 8.5 could lower if they extend him before 2018 (which they should).

Option is only guaranteed for injury. Can be cut and rescinded if he is not hurt before the first day of the league year in 2018.

That was his strength in college tho. Pettigrew could block and block well. Pretty sure he had a few good years as a blocker here...meh. Got a couple nice receiving years out of him as well. Especially for a kid that never caught the football in college.
