He will be granted his request to be incarcerated and serve out his sentence in a federal prison closer to his family in TX, rather than here in MI.
Its too bad though, that his potential/alleged involvement in the murders of two strippers was covered up & never fully investigated, at least one of whom was rumored to have been beaten with a baseball bat by Kilpatrick's wife Carlita, shortly after she (unexpectedly) arrived home @ the Manoogian mansion and discovered that (another) wild party was in progress, with her husband's "enthusiastic" participation.
One of the strippers was rumored to have been beaten badly enough so that she required immediate medical attention, and she was anonymously and unceremoniously dumped off @ a city hospital by city EMTs for treatment.
Several months later, both women were murdered in drive-by shootings while in (their) vehicles, with one apparently occurring in another state.
Based on the degree and the amount of corruption, crime, graft, bribes, blackmail, and illicit/scandalous activity that occurred during Kilpatricks nearly two terms as Mayor, I have very little doubt that these rumors aren't true, and that both Kwame AND his wife Carlita should be spending the rest of their lives behind bars, not just him for up to 28 years in a federal lockup.

How Carlita could still afford to pay her and her family's bills for living in what amounted to a mini-mansion upgrade in a Dallas TX suburb for several years...this even after Kwame lost his questionable "sales representative" gig that he was hired for by Peter Karmanos (with his TX branch of Compuware) after he was jailed for violating the terms of his parole, is a real mystery and indicates that perhaps payoff or hush money was being diverted or funneled to her in a manner that not only might not be reported as income to the IRS, but also could not be seized by the court as payment towards the nearly million $$$ restitution that Kwame the Konvict still owes to the city of Detroit.
Although Carlita eventually got (and has recently lost) a job earning ~40K per year with the city of Duncanville TX early in '13, that seems a "tad" too late to cover what it must have cost her to live in a house renting for ~2600 a month...hmm...
She and her three sons are currently "whereabouts unknown" but likely are still somewhere in the same metropolitan area.
