Meaning the Lions can't give him a proper evaluation this season. Makes it even more likely they pursue a tackle in the offseason (he wasn't likely to prevent that anyways).

Wow, I just went on ESPN's injury list and they had him as probable. I was hoping he would play some this season

I remember on the old board some slappy tried to convince me Fox was worth a 1st round pick if he would have came out in the 2011 draft...

That might have been me Slick. I remember reading shortly after he was drafted that many scouts considered him a possible first round pick if not for the knee injury. I remember that was pretty exciting to read, because if the knee healed, that's like getting a 1st rounder for pretty much nothing.

Of course, he sure hasn't looked like a potential first rounder thus far. But, for that matter, neither Has Jason Smith or Andre Smith, Eben Britton, or even Michael Oher the last couple of seasons.

Obviously, he wasn't worthy of a 1st, but I do remember wondering who Jason Fox was, and reading that many considered him a 1st round potential guy.

Mitch[/color]]Proper evaluation is he stinks.

Last year, he was a raw 4th round rookie who joined late because he was coming off an injury...what did you expect? He'll probably never do much, but its not impossible for Fox to develop into a starter, especially considering the job Mayhew has done drafting so far. It would've been nice to see what he could do.

Some guys take time. Haha who was the guy who loved Andre Smith? He may get the last laugh

the guy who loved Andre Smith may get the last laugh ?? why because the Bengals took a RT #6 overall who took 3 years to get on the field.

c;mon...think before you post.

He might be done for. He basically hasn't played in a couple years now with his injuries in college, his rookie year, and now this season.

We might be in a bind come draft time if Backus retires too. We'd basically need to draft or sign an entire line minus Sims, and find backups as well. I've got no issue with us doing that since it's long overdue, but I'm just saying it might be tough given the number of spots that would need to be filled all at once.

Maybe you should...he hasn't even been in the league 3 whole years....nice try. A guy taken #6 overall struggled his first two years....it happens. He's developing in year 3. You basically left the guy for dead, assumed he was trash, and laughed at the poster who liked the guy. Now, Andre is doing well. The phrase "get the last laugh" applies almost directly to situations like this.

Are you trying to say that Andre is a disappointment because they had to wait until year 3 for him to develop? Thats crap. Not everyone lights it up in year 1. If he keeps playing the way he has, he could get to the Pro Bowl. I like his future. And I doubt the Bengals would say right now that they regret the pick.

you doubt the Bengals regret it....lol , they voided the fat fucks final 2 years of his rookie deal , he's on a play good or hit the fucking bricks 1 year deal now.

he was drafted #6 OVERALL as a LT...couldn't cut it , they tried him inside at OG and back at RT...he's had 1 decent game against a nicked up uninspired Robert Mathis...lets not predict any Pro Bowls please.

#6 OVERALL...go look at the 2009 draft and tell me again they dont regret the pick.

Eugene Monroe
BJ Raji
Brian Orapko
Brian Cushing

just a few guys who were rated in the 6 - 15 range the Bungles could have had,

what are crap argument. So does dallas regret taking demarcus ware with arod on the board. Does Detroit regret pettigrew with Mack, nicks and harvin I'm the board? Besides, you mentioned 4 ppl from 6-15. What about the others. Unless you get the best player in the draft, there's almost always a better player. Considering some guys taken before him (Jason Smith, Tyson Jackson, Aaron curry, mark Sanchez) I'd say they're happy with Andre.

And he's had more than one good game, and you know that.

Point of all this is that some guys take time to develop. Don't simply write off fox because he struggled as a rookie coming off an injury with no training camp or preseason.

they took a guy to play LT at #6 overall...he was an ABSOLUTE failure at LT...he got LT money , and a HUGE singong bonus ...it took him 3 years to become and average RT...they were so disappointed in him they VOIDED the final 2 years of his rookie deal.

Andre Smith is a major BUST for where he was drafted , and what they thought they were drating.

why would the Lions regret the Pettigrew pick...he's 2nd only to Jason Witten in TE Receptions the last 2 years in the NFL , 4th in the NFL this year in TE receptions and a great Safety blanket receiver for the QB they drafted him to be...The Lions had just given Raiola his extension so Alex Mack wasn't even on their radar.

nah..Mayhew hit a HR with the Pettigrew pick.

and you're obviously joking about Nicks ( Hakeem ) I presume...they just dumped Roy , have CJ...NO WAY Mayhew was taking a 1st round WR at 20.

Harvin ?? lol whats he done....I take Pettigrew over him all day everyday.

..Not true, Raiola's extension came after the draft. Mack should have been the pick IMO

Raiola was promised his extension before the draft , which left fans livid it was the worst move Mayhew has made as a GM.

Mack wasn't even on the Lions radar......

Are you too stupid to count? I already told you this once, but seriously, HE HASN'T EVEN BEEN IN THE LEAGUE THREE WHOLE YEARS! Why do you keep saying it took him 3 years to get good? That is literally IMPOSSIBLE. You say 3, when you know its 2, because it sounds better, and most people on this board let you get away with that bull.

I'd take Nicks over Pettigrew all day. Why wouldn't Mayhew want another WR next to CJ? He spent $5 mil a year on a WR the next year, and a second round pick on one the year after that, and we're still wondering when we're gonna have a good WR to take pressure off CJ. Pettigrew has basically filled that role, and while I love Pettigrew, Nicks is elite. With him, we don't need to sign Burleson. And btw, part of the reason Pettigrew has so many catches is BECAUSE there's no one else to throw to other than CJ. With CJ and Nicks, we could throw almost anyone at the TE position and he could get open. BTW, have you noticed where Pettigrew's YPC ranks? 29th, at 8.8 YPC. You can't just spit out one simple stat and ignore others. Pettigrew makes a ton of catches but he's not a playmaking TE.

And I've agreed that Smith was a disappointment. Why don't you get my point? He had only played 2 years. Some guys, like Jake Long, tear up immediately. And some guys take time. Andre Smith is one of those guys. You think the Bengals won't resign him? Of course they will.

Its this simple. Some poster liked Andre Smith. He started off sucking bad. People mocked that poster for liking him. Now, Smith is playing well. If he continues that, then that poster who liked him gets the last laugh. Is that really THAT hard to understand?

20 was to high for mack at the time...cleveland reached for position of needs cause they traded down twice if i remember correctly that draft and like it was already said....they knew they were going to lock up crayola. I was on the Oher/Maulauga train....pettigrew was a perfect pick for that spot but to be honest i would have been fine with any of the 3 to this day.

The problem is you cant go this many drafts with totally disregarding oline depth. Im pissed we havent drafted anyone early to help correct the line....but to not even draft depth or potential startes in rds 2, 3 and 4 year after year is just totally irresponsible. MM has made a lot of great moves....but this one will catch up with him at some point.

They actually took someone in round 4 last year. Fox. He was a raw prospect who was coming off an injury. I think the staff didn't take one early this year because 1) they take bpa and 2) they didn't immediately write off a guy they knew was a project when they took him. To me, it sucks for the Lions that they didn't get a chance to see what he could do.

hey moron....he wasn't drafted as a stretch the field TE , why do you think they went and traded for Scheffler ?

Pettigrew was drafted as a blocking TE and a big body to match up against a LB or S in the box 8 - 10 yds off the ball as a safety valve for Stafford.

Get it through your head...Andre Smith was taken 6th OVERALL as a LT who was expected to come in and play LT day 1...huge contract , huge signing bonus...he's now an AVERAGE RT...we have an average RT who we took 18th overall.

Mayhew was never going to take a 1st round WR , after the Millen 1st round fetishes...he wanted to get as far away from be compared to Millen as he could...

come find me when Andre Smith amounts to anything but an average RT.
