I'm not talking about going to Florida to see the Daytona 500, or traveling to another state to see an NFL game...

I'm talking about going to Europe, or South America, or Asia, to meet people from other cultures and see how they live.

it isn't just because they are poor. go to Lake of the Ozarks, or Lake Orion, or Lake Havasu; there are rednecks with money. they usually blow it on boats, jet skis, snowmobiles or dirtbikes though. I wonder why this is?

I grew a goatee and mustache while writing my dissertation because it was sort of a lab tradition/rally cap/theory that changing your appearance would serve as a visual cue to the boss that a lot of time had passed and that I should graduate. Then my roommate got married in Hong Kong, so I went.

A drunk British guy, saw my facial hair, decided I was a redneck, and gave me a lecture on why we rednecks needed to travel more...in Hong Kong.

That drunk British guy would agree with the premise of this thread then.

Clearly, he was very much in agreement, and so sure of his position he did not need anything more than some facial hair to decide that I needed to be told to get out more.

I wonder how you would go about validating the idea, controlling for income, of course.

wow, you're more well traveled than I expected.

when you say nothing beats the USA though, do you mean the good parts of the USA or Clarkston?
