How much better does Megatron make Stafford

Don't get me wrong, I love Matt as much as anyone and I think he will develop into a top-5 QB. That said, is he really as good RIGHT NOW as his 100+ rating indicates? No other receiver in the league can make some of Calvin's catches. How much better does he make Stafford look?

God forbid Calvin gets injured. Would there be any chance the Lions make the playoffs?

What separates the truly great quarterbacks is that they utilize the tools they are given. Look at Brady (Moss vs. Welker), Brees (Colston vs whoever), Peyton (Wayne vs Dallas Clark). These guys work with what they are given.

This might sound ridiculous but I hope that Calvin does not limit Stafford's ability to develop. Having him as an option creates an "easy out" so-to-speak, and I think it is important that Matt doesn't become too reliant on him to win games. It really is a double-edged sword.

Matt is young and hasn't played that many games in the NFL. He is still growing. Throwing to Calvin is smart because he is difficult to cover. If he was trying to force the ball to Calvin all the time I would be worried. I don't see that happening.

Well, take the triple-coverage TD in Dallas for example. Great play in this case, but that pass to any other receiver is probably a really bad idea. Hopefully Matt is smart enough not to develop a trigger-happy mentality in similar situations. Then again, it seemed to work for Favre-- at least for his one Championship season.

The relationship is two-way. They make eachother better. Look at the guys Megatron's had throwing to him in his career...Kitna, Culpepper, Stanton, Orlovsky, Hill...he finally has a TALENTED QB throwing to him...and they're making eachother look really really good right now. This is a nightmare hookup right now that defenses just don't have an answer to. Say what you will about blown coverages and inability to throw Megatron off his route...you still have to make the throw and the catch. How many times to you see a young QB get over-excited and overthrow the deep guy? And great job by the O-Line on that play too for a change...Pettigrew and (was it Heller?) did an outstanding job sealing off the outside...

He also ended damn near every playoff run with that mentality lol.

But I'm sure a 6'5 235lb Wr that runs a 4.3, helps.

how much better did Rice make Montana ?
Exactly.....it goes both ways. CJ makes amazing catches.....but my god Stafford has put some of those throws RIGHT ON THE MONEY.

The jump ball in Dallas was lofted 40 yards to the EXACT SPOT where only CJ is catching it. One foot shorter....Lee picks it off. One foot farther and it is out of bounds or picked by one of the DB's behind him. Stafford isn't JUST getting lucky on some of these throws.....he is throwing them where they need to be.

And very few QB's could have made that throw last night on the 77 yarder.....dead on the money.

On the other hand....Megatron is a FUCKING BEAST.

I'm glad we have both for a LONG TIME!!!

Or currently Greg Jennings helping Rodgers. Best answer is they help each other.

He didn't say how much better did Montana make Rice.

And its not just Calvin. Matt goes to Pettigrew all the time. Titus will also get more balls thrown his way.

Stafford looked pretty damn good against the Jets last year, with Calvin only catching 1 pass during the game. I know Calvin was getting a ton of attention from the Jets secondary, but Stafford was playing pretty well with Calvin not having much of an impact.

Every time Pettigrew catches a ball I think how stupid Dallas was. And I laugh at the ones who didn't want Pettigrew. Best friend for the QB.

If he forced every throw to Calvin I would be worried.
If he wasn't zipping spot on passes to other receivers I would be worried.
If he wasn't spreading the ball around so much (it's not like Calvin catches 10+ balls a game) I would be worried.

Stafford is just good, and Calvin is just good. GOOD FOR OUR LUCK AS FANS GETTING GOOD PLAYERS ON THE SAME TEAM. I can't complain about that shit. I'll just be content with trolls whining about it like it's an excuse to the "only reason why we win games".

Stafford has already said numerous times that he will throw (force) it to Megatron everytime if he feels comfortable about it. That's how good CJ is. Stafford has that Farve mentality about him. To tell you the truth, Stafford reminds me of Favre to a tee. They're cardboard cutouts of each other.

Heh, Stafford does great with the OL he has. Now, I know DB's need some work, but I'm ALL about drafting OL with the 32nd pick.

;)

He made a lot of good throws yesterday. Burleson jacked him by stopping his route down the sideline. The titus throw down the other sideline way WAAAY off and should have been a big gain. The INT was severely underthrown.....again would have been a huge gain if he led the receiver properly. Im obviously nitpicking...he had a hell of a game. Both the CJ TD pass and the Pettigrew TD were beautifully thrown balls.

Stafford already makes better decisions than Favre ever did.

I remember during one of the early days of camp Stafford threw the ball to Calvin something like 13 of 16 throws and Killer asked him why he threw it to him so much and Staffords reply was wouldnt you? lol. They are a great combo. But we are more than them. We have a real team here Nate could be complaining about he lack of targets but he hasnt said a word. We play as a team on both sides of the ball.

Easy to stay quiet when you're undefeated lol
