This is last 3 years 2011-2013 sacks hits and hurries. Suh compared to DEs/top DTs.

Trade him for Andre Johnson.
Obviously won't and essentially cant happen.

However could you imagine that Dline in Houston. Then having Andre Johnson here as #2. Heck DanO could put up 4500 with that

So suh was no where close to the top DEs and is good as McCoy and Atkins....ya, we knew all that already.

Hits and hurries he compares very well. Sacks is where he lacks which is harder for DTs. Suh is equal to Peppers in this and better than Clay. Clay just got 13 million per year. Suh deserves 13. If Lions get him for 11 or 12 we should be thrilled.

A dt that gets pressure like a top de. He will be back

top DE?....he had similar number to peppers. WHo you guys called washed up and a piece of shit everytime I mentioned his name this offseason. So I guess suh is a washed up piece of shit......

Idiotic. Then what's the next plan, genius? Because Fairley isn't coming back...

There are two reasons I think they should let him walk. First, the Lions already have 2 top 25 salaried players on the roster in Calvin and Stafford. Having 3 guys eating up all of that cap room makes it extremely difficult to fill the roster with quality players. This isn't the NBA where the Miami Heat can get 3 studs and a bunch of trash and still win a title. Second, I feel that paying a DT that for the most part just takes up 2 OL so the other guys have a better chance to succeed is a waste. Bottom line is I just don't feel that paying a DT that kind of money is a good idea. As far as a plan...I would have drafted a DT in May's draft (Donald) knowing that I might not re-sign Fairley and hadn't signed Suh yet. Other than that they could sign a FA or draft one in 2015.

And the people who think we can't fit 3 big contracts and other contacts. Well they are just misinformed. Especially since a Suh extension lowers his cap number. The Lions have plenty of other mid level contracts. Tate 6 per, Tulloch 5 per, Quin almost 5 per Houston 5 per, Jones 3 per, Levy 3 per, Bell 3 per, Bush 4 per, Pettigrew 3 per year. It's UNNECESSARY to get rid of Suh because the numbers are "too high" for 3 players. It's a boneheaded thing to say really and just shows people see one big number and crap their pants.

If anything you change out Jones/Houston next year for other free agents if both stay hurt or struggle this year.

lowers it now but you have to pay at some time. That is like making your car payments with your credit card. It gives you a little more money now but if you keep doing it you get in serious trouble.

It won't rise that much. Mainly because the restructured money(from 2012/2013 restructures) comes off the books after 2015. Over 9 million in 2014 and 2015 each season. So again you are misinformed on the situation. The base will rise but the restructure money comes off the books. But thanks for proving you don't know what you are talking about.

Do you see anything close to 20 million. You lose. again.

no...but that is not Suh's contract.

It will be similar. That is 11 million per extension over an extra year on the rookie deal (like suh in 2014). Suh will have 9 million extra on the cap in 2014 and 2015 but it will be lower than 22 million by far. And it won't rise because the 9 million comes off the books when the base salary rises. Lions can handle Calvin, Suh and Stafford at the same time and still have other second level contracts.

And actually if they keep it around 19 million in 2014 (to make room for the two remaining rookies) then it can be lower in 2015 than in 2015. Similar to stafford in 2013 (17 million) and 2014 (15 million).

Three big contracts can be handled easily.

We probably should also keep in mind that the cap will continue to rise, possibly by significant amounts over the next few years. We're able to fit Suh right now at 22 million, with an extension lowering the hit and an increased cap, there is little to suggest we need to worry about his contract cutting into our ability at other positions. Suh is actually worth a big contract. If we are comparing, I'd much rather pay Suh 12 million to play like a star than pay 2 mid-level guys to play mediocre.
