I wonder if the Rays would trade Ben Zobrist...

He'd clearly be the answer at several positions at one time (lf, rf rest for hunter, ss) Could bat 2nd or 6th since he is a switch hitter. He is the answer the Tigers are looking for to completely fill their lineup. I wonder if porcello, peralta, castellanos, garcia, and crosby could pull it off for zobrist+ one of their starters (maybe even shields). Could be a pipe dream tho.

The problem is that would leave the cupboards really bare.

If, and when someone got hurt, we would be calling up some nobody to take his place because we shipped off our 2 best prospects/replacements.

The only player I would ever consider sending both Castellanos and Garcia for is Stanton. Zobrist and Shields; while they would fit right in, are not worth that steep of a price.

We should have learned that from 3 months of Anibal Sanchez and 1 year and 3 months of Infante for 2 of our top prospects.

Assured of getting 2009 numbers, sure. But his career numbers are not worth near that much.

Zobrist is a guy that no two people think the same of....his offensive stats aren't mindblowing but his versatility, speed, and defense have saber types drooling.

personally I think his value lies in the middle but he's not an elite player imo.

So he can play multiple positions. Go get a cheap utility guy for that. He's not worth Castellanos and Garcia let alone adding in Porcello and Crosby.
