Instead of arguing over interpretations of the Constitution, I wish we could just judge politicians based on their own understanding of it. If we had a reliable method of lie detection we could ask them once a year if they upheld the oath of office and if they can't say that they did...impeached.
Did you support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic?
Did you bear true faith and allegiance to the same?
Do you take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion?
Did you well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you serve?
I don't think many could clear that hurdle...if we had those lie detectors available.
