Expectations are not high for this guy and rightfully so. But, may he be an option for some competition at the safety spot opposite Delmas? Strengths...Tackling and Zone Coverage. Do i think he can man up on Alshon Jeffery or Jordy on the outside? God no. But it sounds like his skill set may translate favorably to the safety position and the front-office really hasn't brought in many legitimate threats to Spievey's job even though they have shown a LOT of interest in upgrading the position...(Barron, Landry and Atogwe interest.)

eh, we'll see. I don't think he'll make it out of the preseason with us, but the coaches seem to like him.

lol, Lacey is 5' 9" and a 175lbs. I mean seriously...

He's played in Indy his whole career meaning all he's played is cover two. All we really play is man so they have to believe something to bring him in.

He's a sure tackler for a CB, not afraid to stick his head in and I'm sure that has something to do with it because our tackling in the secondary was pretty piss poor last year.

But a safety he is not!

Maybe they believe he struggled in Indy because he's a man corner, not a cover two corner. Or, maybe, before they drafted 3 corners, they felt like they needed another body. Regardless, it doesn't hurt anyone to give him a chance in training camp.

Houston, Berry, Smith, Bentley, and Greenwood will all make the team. If they keep 6 corners, Lacey will be battling Green for the last spot. They might lean toward Lacey in that scenario since Green can be put on the practice squad.
