Jacoby Jones would've been my MVP

those two TDs were huge and the difference, in my opinion.

a lot of QBs could've done what Flacco did, but Jones broke that game open.

Agree. I can't stand that they almost always give it to the qb. The td catch he had to wait for the ball and then made a couple of good moves to get into the endzone.

If san Fran had pulled it out they would have needed to give the MVP to the electricians and whomever else was responsible for the blackout. That completely changed the game. If I was responsible I would be expecting my pink slip. Not saying they will be fired but I would expect to be if I was in their position, unless boss was a Niner fan and appreciated how competitive they became and made a blowout into a near comeback.

Definitely can understand the sentiment toward giving MVP to Jones, but flacco was nearly perfect to a level not many qbs achieve in super bowls, even those who also got mvps previously. Hell worthlessburger didn't even perform well enough to earn his ring let alone MVP and respectfully those SB MVPs went to his receivers who had to play at MVP levels in order to catch his passes, let alone do anything after catching them, though I still think a defensive player was likely more deserving each of those years. Harrison especially completely changed the game with his FF and 99 yard TD return, but NFL understandably hates him too much to have given him the nod. Kinda like how Suh will likely never win it even if lions win (LOL, I know) cuz they don't want the player labelled as the dirtiest in the game to be given that type of honor.

Nearly perfect? He did nothing in the 3rd quarter and let the Niners back in the game. They sustain any drives that quarter and that game is not close. Jones did more in 1 play than the whole Ravens offense did in that quarter.

Flacco is more marketable than Jones. No other explanation for Jones not winning the award.

1 TD return for 108 yards plus 4 returns for 98 yards plus 1TD catch for 56 yards.

compare that with when desmond won

6 PR for 90 yards, long 34, plus 1 fair catch plus 1 TD KR for 99 yards and 3 KR for 55 yards

however, compare QB stats also...
Player: C/A Yds Avg TD INT Sacks-Yds
Flaco: 22/33 287 8.7 3 0 2-13
Favre: 14/27 246 17.6 2 0 5-38 plus rushing 4 for 12 yds and 1 TD

from this analysis i can definitely agree the precedent was set with Howard's MVP to have awarded it to Jones, but Flacco definitely had a more solid C/A than Favre, and was very efficient on 3rd downs. Howard's TD return was the game winner and Flacco guided the team down for the winning security score. that is where i think the advantage in votes went to the eventual winner.

personally, i would have liked jones and flacco to be co-MVP's (precedent set in SB XII) as both were essential components to the victory. call it a cop out, but that's my opinion...both guys were equally important and valuable in the win. same probably should have been the case that Favre deserved more MVP votes than he did...but hard to give a QB with barely over 50% completions the MVP i think.

Flacco deserved it....managed the game and made some big time throws.

he wasn't catching it anyway...was over his head and landed 3 yards outta bounds...Ravens brought the house and Kaepernick just threw it up to the corner.

their red zone offense was horrid. Looked like linehan called that series.
