Keith Law's middle infielder guide gave me an idea...why not sign Rollins for ~3 years and move him to second base? Im not saying hed be the best option given his age and some of his shortcomings, but i think itd be worth a shot and hed definitely be an upgrade over a santiago/raburn platoon.

It really depends on if he's willing to move. I could see us kicking the tires either way though. If he'd move over, great. If not, Peralta could move over to 3B or maybe even 2B.

I don't think the odds are high that we sign him, but we'll probably at least inquire.

I'd like to get a high OBP 2B, ~.370, to bat lead off. Power numbers aren't a concern. Don't know if there is anything out there but that'd really make my day.

Rollins might end up as the most overpaid free agent next year, based on his actual ability verses his perceived ability. He's slipping and hasn't been good offensively for several years.

Not only would Jamie Carroll free up money, he might give more production.

Rollins is on the decline and will probably be the classic example of someone getting paid for what he did 4 years ago as opposed to what he will actually produce

I don't think you can say that.

Arod moved to 3rd.

It all comes down to $$$, if the team offering him the best contract says "play second base" he's going to snap to it.

Peralta was unhappy about a move because he was being muscled out for Acab. But if he had been a FA and someone said Jhonny we'll give you X to play 3rd base, and it was the best offer, he'd have done it.

It's a business, and these guys have to get it done by the time they are 33-35, so someone like Rollins who has probably seen his last multi-year contract is not going to sweat the small things.
