Just a thought on Hoke's situation.

Does DB leaving the university buy Hoke another year?

Is it possible for Hoke to say, DB was a micro manager and that was the problem?

If, A BIG IF, UM wins out, or is at least extremely competitive and beats OSU, I think Hoke could fight for his job. I think he has to beat OSU, but it is possible. The kids should play inspired and a upset against the hated Buckeyes is possible.

Just a thought. I am sure most of you will disagree with me, but I can see a scenario where it happens. If we are going to settle for another mid major coach with a semi proven track record, I'd live with Hoke another year.

Heres hoping for one of the "Big 3"

Have a hard time believing the AD in film session led to the blowouts to ND, Utah, Minnesota, and Michigan State.

And the inability to stop Gary Fucking Nova at Rutgers.

Even without one of the "Big 3" Butch Jones, Mark Stoops, and Greg Schiano are better head football coaches than Brady Hoke.

I am not a huge supporter of Schiano or Jones. Jones isn't exactly a proven asset and Schiano has his own issues. He did good at rutgers, before they had a over powering schedule and washed out in the NFL.

I can still see a scenario where UM goes bowling and Hoke gets 1 final shot.

If we beat Ohio State and win a bowl...i could see him staying, but I hope not. His inability to teach has destroyed this team. Hello...

I suspect if the team wins out, beating ohio*, and wins or give a respectable showing in a bowl game, then Hoke would get another year for sure. If they beat NW and MD and lose to ohio* but show a respectable game (like last year), and they give a respectable showing in a bowl, then probably Hoke gets another year. Same scenario but they lose terrible to ohio* and have a respectable bowl game, same prediction for Hoke. I think the only way Hoke doesn't get another year is if they don't make a bowl.

agree with rumsey on outside possibility of hoke staying and lost leader regarding schiano and jones

personally i think hoke is gone and schlissel made it clear an interim ad can do that

i think it would be hard to recruit if you don't know ad though so the pressure would be to finalize an ad deal over november and new ad can do coach deal in december

i like hoke personally and he loves michigan and his kids but the lack of player development etc. I think like others before him, he is too loyal to some of his assistant coaches

Paraphrasing here and the reason Hoke needs to go: the reason for Drake Johnsons success was increased reps because of the injury to Derrick Green. Wow.....apparently those increased reps taught him speed and how to juke and how to cut back. Sorry Brady, reps teach you the play and where the hole should be. The rest is up to the back. His endrance, strength, and preparation are all up to him. We had 2 backs that couldnt do jack shit against Indy's shitty defense. It wasnt reps coach, he's just a good back that should have been, at the least, rotating during our first 8 games of the year.

Babe, you got the inside goods...

Hasn't Jim Harbaugh already called Shlissel directly, and put his own coming to Michigan in motion?

Because I think it's done.

Holy crap Denard just ran over a DB for a touchdown.

Had that game on today to see how Denard is doing. He looks like a legit NFL running back!

And Blake Bortles makes some HORRIBLE decisions. Just AWFUL! I know he's a rookie and all, but he makes decisions that make you wonder just how dumb is he really?!

No...

Our offensive line is all you need to know.. Hoke and his staff can't coach players up.

He cost Denard another 100yd game. He's going to end up with 94 on 17 carries and a TD.

I also think the Jags would have a couple more wins if Henne was in there. Its like the fans are pretty much calling the shots with Bortles still being the starter. He throws dumbass picks every game.

I don't understand how they could start fucking Bortles over Henne. It's insane.

but on the topic...

I really don't know if Hoke can save his job... or if that would be a good thing for us. And if we have a good chance at landing Jim Harbaugh... then I definitely do not think Hoke deserves another season at the risk of losing out on JH.

Pure speculation, but I wouldn't downplay how much damage a meddling AD can do to the football program. If Brandon was really sitting in on film sessions, nitpicking things, standing over people's shoulders... that can make things a lot worse. That can lead to bad play, backstabbing, bad team chemistry, etc. It could very well explain why things have gotten so much worse under Hoke.

If Jim Harbaugh wants the job, the job should be his, no matter what.

Kick Hoke upstairs; make him an assistant AD, what the hell...?

He's a good dude, and Michigan can afford it; our athletic department is rich as all get out.

Make Hoke's job to take any and all calls from the Tinsel Wolverine out in Hollywood about anything to do with the athletic program.

And pay him $75,000 bucks a year to do it.

And buy him the house I grew up in if he wants it.

The one that Vic's buddy, the principal of Wines Elementary took, and forwarded to Vic, which Vic forwarded to me.

It's my screen saver.

Seems to be a growing sentiment that if UM can't get either Harbaugh or Les Miles, they should stick with Hoke instead of going with a 2nd tier guy like Schiano, Jones, M. Stoops, McElwain, etc.

What's your take?

(And how happy are you that SF lost today to fall to 3rd in the NFC West? Difficult to root against Jim Harbaugh so the 9'ers don't make the playoffs and he can be hired earlier in January?)

If we finish strong, beat NU, and MD, and take ohio to 4Qs (win or lose) then I agree with keeping Hoke instead of rolling the dice with a coach who isn't miles or harbaugh.

And if hoke doesn't compete for a Big Ten title in 2015, conduct a true nationwide coaching search, meet with every single FBS coach (except RR) and hire the best guy for the job in '16.

I guess I'm happy the Niners lost for Harbaugh purposes.

Sorry, I can't be happy with keeping him. If we can't get Harbaugh this year, we won't next year either. We need a guy and if JHarbaugh isn't it, there have to be better ones than Hoke.
