With the first month of the NFL season already in the books, the league is now handing out a variety of awards.

The NFL defensive rookie of the month is Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.

The 16th overall pick in the draft, Kerrigan has 13 tackles, five quarterback pressures, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two passes defensed, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.

Kerrigan and Bryan Orakpo quickly have become one of the top pairs of outside linebackers in the NFL.

man i hope fairley turns out good..cuz this was the guy i wanted..not complaining..cuz i was impressed as hell with fairley in college...and never thought he'd be there when the lions took em...kerrigan was the guy i wanted pre draft...just because i never thought a talent like fairley would fall to us

Lions would have never drafted Kerrigan anyway.

to me kerrigan was a kvb clone not a cliff clone..theres been lots of 4-3 de's like him who have done well

I'm not vouching for him.. People on the old board DID want him. Just saying he's exactly the same player as cliff.

Cliff was a Millen pick....NUFF said

great pick also...not an Avril fan but go look at the draft board..he's had the most success of anyone drafted after him in the 3rd and 4th rounds until the next Lions pick in that draft.

Just wondering what you see in him that has you thinking they would've never draft him?

He fits a 3-4 D, why would Schwartz/Mayhew take a player that isnt a great fit for their scheme and try to mold him into what they want.

Thats what Millen did, our new staff finds players that fit our systems.

are you serious ?

he's a tweener , best suited in a 3 -4.....the Lions were also 4 deep at DE heading into the draft....DT was a need pick considering the 4 man rotation Schwartz wanted to run ( Fairley was a gift ).
