Not sure on the injury, but he needed surgery. They aren't saying, but there were reports 3-4 weeks, but officially it's indefinitely. Without Knox, Clemens Heath and Kiitridge are are only experienced DTs. Thomas is going to have to take a big step inside and at 6-4, 309 lbs he ha the frame for it.

Doesn't that give Mcdowell a chance to play?

Think he was playing regardless, but this could expand his role. Thomas was going to play both inside and outside, if Knox is out for a while you have to think Thomas stays inside.

Everyone thinks Evans will play at DT, I'm actually higher on Enoch Smith Jr and think he is closer to ready. Put on some muscle and goes over 280 now and can play inside and out, just a very good athlete and supposedly one of the strongest freshman anyone has seen. Evans is 320 lbs and needs to get into shape, I see him red shirting.

What stuck me about McDowell in both game film and film from camps is his quickness, he was beating people with speed and quickness, has a nice spin move, and he really carries all that weight well, looks trim at 285 lbs.

Dantonio has raved already about the D line depth and talent. Don';t forget Evan Jones, could be a player to make a big splash at DE.
