If a NJ Superior court judge grants a vastly reduced settlement in a decade-long environmental destruction case vs ExxonMobil.
"Lawyers clashed in final arguments over the proposed Exxon settlement — $225 million to restore natural resources at toxic refineries in Linden and Bayonne and 16 other contaminated sites, plus hundreds of gas stations across New Jersey. The state originally wanted $8.9 billion."
“That’s a 98 percent discount. We don’t think it’s been adequately justified on the record and that’s one of the reasons we want to explore some of these rationals that the department is giving for this settlement,” said attorney for environmental activists Edward Lloyd."

"Judge Michael Hogan noted most of the $225 million would be diverted by the governor’s budget to general funds, not the environment."
Judge Hears Final Arguments of Proposed Exxon Settlement
"Opponents who tried unsuccessfully to intervene in the case argued the state inexplicably abandoned its earlier damages estimate of $8.9 billion before settling on the lower figure."

"Four environmental groups on Tuesday appealed the judge’s decision not to allow them to intervene as a party to the case."
“This Exxon settlement/sell-out is too important for us not to appeal. This settlement is a bad deal for the taxpayers and the environment and needs to be blocked,” said Jeff Tittel, director of the New Jersey Sierra Club."
Christie’s Exxon deal heads back to court
"Public Strategies Impact, the firm that represents Exxon’s interests in New Jersey, has donated $50,000 to "America Leads," a super PAC supporting Christie’s presidential campaign, according to federal campaign finance filings released Friday."

"The donation to the super PAC from Exxon’s lobbying firm is “not surprising,” said Democratic State Sen. Raymond Lesniak, who has led the charge to block the settlement. “If the judge approves Christie's settlement, Exxon will walk out with a check," he said. "The settlement's that bad.”
"America Leads spokesman Tucker Martin, asked by IBTimes about the propriety of accepting money from Exxon's lobbying firm, said, “We greatly appreciate the support of all our donors.”

$50K to sell out your own state for a presidential primary campaign, that stands a miniscule chance of success in a field of 16 and counting GOP candidates. Krispy will be fortunate to sit @ the Rethug's kiddie table during the upcoming RNC debates that will be hosted and moderated by Tox Spews.
Although this Kritter really doesn't deserve his own thread, he does highly exemplify the legalized graft and corruption that has been granted to "SuperPACs" courtesy of the favorable Citizens United ruling by the SCOTUS.
It makes for a bittersweet feeling for me and mine, since I have lived the majority of my life in the 20th century. and won't be around or leave any progeny behind, if, or more likely when the US becomes a Corporatist Oligarchy and/or Dominionist Theocracy.
