has nothing to do with spievey...it has to do with our backup is john wendling..a special teams player..

btw, im not expecting him to come in and start now, or later for that matter. however, it is nice to have depth with the coleman injury

I think we have better depth now with Harris than we had with Coleman. Plus get some information about the Bears during the bye week.

Spievey was coming out in Red Zone packages when Coleman was healthy....I imagine Harris is going to serve the same purpose.

Chris Harris - DB - Lions

Lions claimed S Chris Harris off waivers from the Bears.
The intradivision move gives Detroit more depth at safety, where the team has struggled with injuries. Harris probably isn't going to pass SS Amari Spievey as a starter, but could eventually prove a better backup option than special teamer John Wendling. Regardless, it's a low-impact transaction.

Chris Harris is one year removed from an All-Pro season, isn't he? Sure, he's lost a step, but he's coming in to play the run because our tackling has been poor of late at the second level. Good signing, veteran presence and knows the division. This move does not hurt, it helps.

It helps in the fact I don't want Wendling back there. I hope he stays in the box and nothing more.
