Adam Caplan reports the Lions could make a run at LB David Hawthorne.

i had hoped for him last year (or was it 2 years ago when he was last FA, regardless...) hopefully they can get him this time. i think he is better than tulloch so hopefully would be a step up for lions if they get him.

Bears interested too...........
According to ESPN Chicago's Mike Wright, the Bears are interested in free agent MLB David Hawthorne.
The Bears would ostensibly play Hawthorne on the strong side, and perhaps kick him into the middle eventually as 34-year-old Brian Urlacher's successor. Hawthorne is only a two-down run thumper, but he's outstanding in the role. The 27-year-old has averaged 113 tackles per year over the past three seasons.

Tulloch is the better player, but realistically if Hawthorne was significantly cheaper we should probably grab him. Our scheme is designed for "a thumper" at MLB, and both fit the bill. There is still the issue with Levy/Durant/most of our DBs not being sound tacklers.

Word is they were up late working on tulloch....this seems to be smoke. Hopefully Tulloch news comes soon but if last year was any indication he has no issues with waiting it out. we'll see. We can afford to wait too with so many options avail at MLB and we actually have a little bit of cash now.
