We have traded OT Mike Williams to the Pats for a draft pick.

Looks like a 7th which is where we drafted him 2 years ago. He was showing promise as an OT though. This must mean they are comfortable with Waddle.

Cool, this year we can draft another tackle in the 7th round, develope him for 2 years to get him up to par, then dump him for another 7th round pick. Pointless, meaningless, and worthless trade imo.

Until he gets hurt, and the Lions have gotta lean on a rookie that needs more time to develope

Unless he is the low man on our depth chart and trading him is more appropriate than having him poached from practice squad.

It's like we are becoming the farm system for the good teams.

Realistically this has no impact on the lions currently or in the future. Nothing to be excited about or disappointed with.

What???

So you would rather cut him.....which is what they were most likely to do as Reiff, Robinson, Waddle and Lucas were ahead of him on the depth chart.....than get a 7th round pick for him??

That logic makes no sense.

no kidding. Having a guy that they drafted on the team for 2 years and getting a 7th in return...not bad.

The negativity on this board is comical, bro lol. You know this!! Williams was a 7th rd TE converted to an OT. We're lucky to get anything out of this. Good work by Mayhew for at least getting the pick back.

Exactly.....he was a 7th round pick. 69% of 7th rounders don't even have an NFL job after 2 years.

To complain that a 7th round pick was a waste is like complaining that your 3rd string QB isn't a HOF'er. We got something for a guy we were going to cut. That's a win.

Or look at it this way. We took the 54th - 57th man on the roster and turned him into a 7th round pick.

Nothing wrong with that.

Then what's the problem? Why are you even here, lol.

Why are you here?? Oh ya, I forgot, to rip on the organization for every single move they do. No matter big or small.
Be happy they at least got their pick back from a player that more than likely will NEVER see the field. You being you of course can't and won't see it.

Saying that they have a better chance to win, NE. I hope we win 10-12, we can win 10-12 but they will win 10-12. Go with the guarantee.
