Maybe it's the holder fault?

Although it wasn't brutally obvious today, the wind was pretty high in Minny. Every time a ref tried to hit his mic, the win blocked all sound.

Little bust of rust on Prater, high winds in outdoor conditions... the misses aren't a big shock.

Not ready to scream yet anyway.

Yep, there's nobody better out there. Honestly wish they would've inked him to a longer deal.

Yeah, wind and rust...let's see what happens in dome conditions and a little more practice time. Career he is only about 80%, so there will be some games where he misses obviously.

If only we could bring back Hanson, Barry Sanders, and Dan Orlovsky. ;P

Prater and Hanson have almost identical career FG%. Granted Hanson did it for a lot longer but still there isn't anything wrong with a career FG% around 80.

Shit..I'd live with making 2 of 3. Losing by 4 with a fg kicker making 2/3 goes on the offense. Losing by 3 and kicking 0/3 goes on the kicker

It seems like our offense hasn't helped the kicking game either. We get into field goal range and Stafford takes a sack. The game against Buffalo we didn't score in the 2nd half. Stafford knew how horrid the kicking game was and didn't get the ball into the end zone. Missed FG or not, the offense deserves some of the blame as well.

Out of all the misses how many have been from 45+? Granted, 45-50 should be hit at a much higher percentage then what we've done.

The Lions have now missed more field goals (10) in six games than Hanson missed in any one season (9).

Time to start looking at the holder. 3 kickers that are pure shit? I'm not buying it lol

the snaps I saw today didn't look too good either. the one prater hooked to the left was snapped in the dirt and was a good job by the holder to even get it down.

regardless this is elementary shit that shouldn't be this hard. snap, hold, kick....theres no excuse for any of it.

At least Prater's misses didn't cost us the game like Henery's (and possibly Freese's) did. I agree on the holder/snapper and outside/wind factors. This is more than just a coincidence that all the kickers have had major issues. Prater had plenty of leg on the kicks and didn't miss them in a really ugly fashion, so I'm confident he'll get better. Still frustrating to watch though.

Did you guys see Nugent miss the easy FG against Carolina in OT to end in a tie? Talk about a choke job.

That's not really fair to compare Prater's kicks to Henery's. The kicker doesn't determine when he's going to kick.

In fact, that would actually exempt Henery a bit more because of the pressure that was on him, vs the sleepy controlled win against the Vikings. The Lions are being more patient with Prater because they know he's a better kicker than the other two.
