The Lions gave the nearly 300,000 fans crowded into the NFL draft area around downtown Detroit something to cheer about on Thursday night. After watching the first 23 picks, the Lions and GM Brad Holmes got aggressive and traded up.
Moving from No. 29 to No. 24, the Lions traded away a third-round pick as well to the Dallas Cowboys to select Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold. It’s a bold move to draft Arnold, who was widely expected to come off the board in the 12-20 overall range.
The fans live in Detroit roared with approval. So did much of the NFL Draft media center. It appears the reaction is almost universally in praise of the move to go get Arnold. Here’s a sampling of some of the top social media reactions to the trade and Arnold’s selection.
