Last Sunday was tough for every Detroit Lions player against the Buffalo Bills. They fought and battled but fell behind too many points early in the game and they were unsuccessful in ever taking the lead. For some players, they played through injuries and others ended up getting hurt and now have a long road of recovery in front of them.

As for Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, he revealed on his St. Brown Podcast, that he played the game with food poisoning. Despite throwing up for the first time in his life, St. Brown went on to having a career day for the Lions.

Finishing with 14 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown, it was a career day for St. Brown. On the season, he’s up to 95 receptions for 1,056 yards and 10 touchdowns. Currently, St. Brown ranks highly in the following receiving categories:

  • T-1st in games with 10+ receptions (3)
  • 2nd in receptions (95)
  • 2nd in receiving first downs (58)
  • 3rd in receiving touchdowns (10)
  • 3rd in contested catches (18)
  • 4th in receiving yards (1,056)

Nobody on the Lions knew that St. Brown was dealing with the illness. Head coach Dan Campbell revealed that he had no idea. “Nobody even told me, which is just like Saint,” he said. “He’s not going to say anything until it’s done.”

Revealing more details on the podcast and to the media, St. Brown mentioned that he started to feel sick in the middle of the day on Saturday. It carried into the night and he was unable to sleep. That’s when he forced himself to throw up.

Not able to eat, St. Brown said that he “…probably had a banana or two all Sunday, so I didn’t eat much. I was just more tired than anything. I had enough liquid. I took an IV, but wasn’t able to eat. And then Monday morning, Monday throughout day, I started feeling a lot better.”
