Had a 40 yard TD run and a 70 yard non TD run vs our #1 defense. He's got a ton of potential. Was a 10.7 100m sprinter in high school and he's 6-1, 220. Scott and Holmes are #2 right now.

Arjen Colquhoun is banged up right now but should be back for Western although if the game was this weekend Vayante Copeland would be the starter opposite Cox.

Other position battles are shaking out too.

Joe Reschke is challenging Frye to replace Ed Davis at one LB spot.

At the STAR, freshman Andrew Dowell has beaten out RS freshman TJ Harrell for the #2 spot behind Harris.

Montez Sweat is the #3 DE, but Cooper and Evans will play.

Deanthony Arnett will be the 4th WR after starters Burbridge, Kings, and Shelton. Madaris and Troup will round out the top 6 receivers.

TE Paul Lang has had a great camp and will get more looks than just as a blocking TE this season. We are loaded with 3 very good TEs in Price, Lyles, and Lang.

Machado is the 6th O lneman, Clemens will be the 1st backup inside. Finley will get some time at LT. McGowan is going to see some series inside. The starting 5 was recently named the #2 unit in the nation. I think we rotate 9 this season. David Beedle has moved to O line and could win some snaps, he's a plus athlete at guard or RT.

It's the most talented roster top to bottom Dantonio has had here. If enough guys make a jump like they should it could be his most talented team by a very large margin.

You mean Jon Reschke, right? Someone also mentioned a Joe in another thread but I assume it was a mistake as there's only one Reschke on the roster.

Would be pretty cool to have London in the backfield for at least 2 years. Although I don't think LJ Scott would be too happy with that. Is Scott going to be the guy before the end of the season?

I like Frey, he looks a little lean but attacks fearlessly, you always love to see that in a linebacker.

I've heard a lot of talk about Copeland since he stepped foot on campus a year or two (?) ago so hopefully he lives up to the hype.

Don't you want someone a little leaner or at leas faster on the outside? Frey isn't all that lean anymore - he's packed on about 27lbs and is shorter and heavier than Davis according to their MSU bios. We probably won't get the pass rush speed we're losing w/ the injury. Hopefully the line is as dominant as expected - if so what we need is a guy that can tackle stay w/ TEs.

Frey has a lot of speed, probably faster than Davis, but what Davis had was strength, he was a monster at taking on blocks and he was very slippery when trying to avoid them. Neither Reschke or Fry will replace Davis's production or experience, you really just hope one of them can be a positive player.

I thought Davis was one of the most underrated players in the conference, he's going to be tough to replace, but our staff has an outstanding record of getting young line backers to perform at a very high level, see Taiwan Jones, Greg Jones, Chris Norman etc.

You have to think this running back battle is going to play out throughout the season. The guy getting the most carries against wmu will not be the same guy vs osu

I agree, although I think London has a chance to get the lion's share of the carries.

I was watching the Little Giants game on BTN the other night, Le'veon Bell was the best player on the field in only his 3rd game in college as a true freshman. Some absolute highlight reel runs and catches, just a beast. If LJ Scott is half as good as that as a true freshman he is going to be amazing.

Gerald Holmes seems to be the odd man out here. He's listed as the 2nd back but Scott is on his heels and I'm sure Delton will move ahead of him as well.

This is my opinion and I don't see anyone bringing it up, but Delton is a big guy why not redshirt him and put him at fullback for the rest of his time here?
