New York Mets starter Matt Harvey has a partial UCL tear in his pitching elbow and is headed for the disabled list, according to a team source.

It is not certain if Harvey will have to undergo Tommy John surgery, the source said.

Harvey is 9-5 this season with a 2.27 ERA and 191 strikeouts, good for fourth in the league.

He started July's All-Star Game for the National League

The Mets suck for him to only have 9 wins. I know TJ surgery isn't what it used to be, and pitchers can come back from it frequently but I hope the kids doesn't need it.

I wonder if he's had the tear or he got the tear during our game this weekend?

Its too bad really. Even if he comes back from TJ surgery, if he has it, at least a year plus out. At 24, it could mess up his star status.
