Mayhew's Draft picks

This is a list of every Mayhew draft pick. I have to admit the guy has done really well and a shit load better than Millen ever did.

21 Picks....here goes....

(in order of not just production, but production from where they were drafted)

1. Suh - hard to miss with the 2nd overall pick....oh wait, no it's not. Hi Chuck Rogers!! Other options were there but he listened to the Schwartz and a star was born.

2. Stafford - QB's are so hit and miss. He evaluated the talent correctly, cant blame him for the injury problems...he showed no signs at Georgia. Could.....COULD....develope into an NFL star. Not every no. 1 pick does that.

3. Levy - Started almost from day one. Great 3rd round pick, especially considering most the LB's before and after have done almost nothing.

4. Fairley* - Just a projection, but I think he ends up being a very good DT and the reason we will eventually trade Williams for a high-ish draft pick in the next 2 years.

5. Gronkowski - He turned a 7th into a solid NFL corner (Smith) in 2+ years....hard to do.

6. Pettigrew - Going to be a pro bowl TE for the next 6-8 years.

7. Delmas - First pick in round 2. Highly considered one of the best young safties in the game. Need to see progression this year though.

8. Sammie Lee Hill - Probably would start on 25 teams in the league. He would be higher but because of the people in front of him he doesnt have much production so far. If he played more Mayhew would get more credit for how good a pick he was.

9. Leshore* - When he gets healthy he will be a workhorse RB.

10. Titus Young - Seems to be able to live up to the hype, but it's so hard to say. Will eventually take over for Burleson as CJ's other half.

11. Jahvid Best - Better than Reggie Bush. If he can stay healthy he will move up the list.

12. Spievey - If he takes that leap this year he would move into the top 5 of this list. As of right now....

13. Jason Fox - Tagged as an eventual replacement for Backus. If he becomes an NFL caliber T.....thats a pretty damn good for a low 4th round pick. Big IF though.

14. Follett - Short stint as a starter. Granted, on one of the worst LB corps to see an NFL field.....but still.

15. Willie Young - Took a big step from last year. If he continues to improve will be a good edge rusher.

16. Aaron Brown - Preseason Gayle Sayers, but he did score a regular season TD.

17. Culbreath - Good sign he made the team. Upside better than Hogue's.

18. Hogue -Hope he developes into a good player. Hope I win the lotto too.

19. Toone - Career practice squad player. Not bad for Mr. Irrelivent, there are worse jobs.

20. Lydon Murtha - at least he added something in that one game.

21. Derrick Williams - added NOTHING in 2+ years. Two picks later Mike Wallace was taken py Pitt. OUCH

Just my opinion.......please.....tear it a new one!!!

I agree that when you have a top 5 pick you should hit on the player but many times in years past we didnt. It's to early to tell on many of this year's picks and Culbreath didn't make the team he is hidden on IR. Mayhew has drafted quality players who have developed well and contributed to this team.

you forgot to mention the traded picks he used to trade for Corey Williams & Chris Houston, not to mention the 3-way trade for Scheffler that involved giving up a 7th rounder, and the draft pick for R Sims

Booger, you are full of shit on the Leshoure pick. Guys don't come back from torn achilles tendons to become workhorses. He should be off the list at this point as N/A or something.

Really all of the rookies should be at the bottom of the list because we have no basis to go off of. I'm sure guys like Gaines Adams, Aaron Maybin, and Vernon Gholston have had their supporters before the first game of their rookie seasons too.

Edit: They should still all be ahead of DWill

I don't think Stafford can be 2nd at this point when he was a number 1 pick and in 2 season has played what like 8 games or something. If you're including production based on were they were drafted you have to go with Levy number 1, the guy was a third round pick and has been a starter since day one. Suh was a 2nd overall pick he was expected to contribute right away.

Based just off his 21 draft picks.

Again....just PROJECTIONS based on my opinions.
As far as the achilles injury....I would agree with you if he were a Best type back whe relied on agility and pure speed. Leshore is not. He is 21 years old and can come back from this.

Im not a big supporter of this guy. Just see him being a workhorse type back.

I agree with you on Stafford...should probably be lower give production. I disagree with you on Levy and Suh.

Just to add a little something on to the Levy pick... a lot of fans wanted Detroit to ignore Stafford and draft Aaron Curry #1 overall that year. Levy has outplayed Curry. It makes that pick all the better.

!

Leshore is nothing but a wasted second round pick at this point and we'll be lucky if he ever produces like we thought he was going to when we drafted him.

Best better than Bush?...hillarious. Only statistic that is remotely close is how often they are injured.

Wow..if you wanna go on about this go ahead. I just rated the 21 people he picked...thats it.

Deal with it and move on.

You can make whatever argument you want for his trades of draft picks....i dont give a shit.

lol....why reiterate the thread...good grief. A guy is given 7 picks a year, he flips 4 of them in trades for 3 starters and another solid TE and you dis this fact...

LOL....please make an argument that Bush...a #2 overall pick...is a better pick than Best....#30 overall.....give their skill set and production.

won't even be close after this year..even if best makes it till week 8...last year he only got until week 3...his numbers and impact in that philly game were already lightyears better than any performace reggie has had as a pro...

Reggie had a game like Best as a rookie....168 total yds and 4 TDs against the 49ers.

a 60 yard difference is still quite a bit im just saying..i think a healthy best is better than reggie by far......i guess i just have a lot of faith in best..ill give best more than just a rookie year to go off of..

I'll take the 4th TD over the 60 yds.

they're the same player....both band aids who will never reach their full potential in the league
