K-rod is 7/7 in save opportunities with a sub 1 era... So I'm mightve whiffed on Justin Upton (bad pun I know)), I'm right more often then not.

Wow, Frankie's registered only 19.2 IP.
Who would you surrender for this pending free agent (rent-a-player)?

Didn't need him, we just needed to have the right people close from day one.

That's easy to say now, but you can not deny that our bullpen wouldve been a lot more talented and reliable with Rodriguez in the pen. Him, Benoit, smyly, and potentially rondon would probably be the best bullpen quartet when the playoffs roll around, and with porcello in the bullpen also, the tigers would give opposing lineups and managers headaches.

Or he could have wound up a girlfriend-beating distraction. who knows, we still didn't/don't need him.

We need early/middle bullpen help, not back end.

That's pretty hypocritical since the best player on our team was known as a wife beating drunk not too long ago.

So the majority opinion is if someone closes for one team, that means they can't/shouldn't pitch middle relief for another team??

Hardly. Those 4, I like how you include Rondon, wouldn't be anywhere close to the best quartet in the playoffs. Rondon has pitched 5 innings. And some of those sucked..

Exactly.
Plus if we include all the great 19.2 inning performances in MLB for the past two years, we'd have a dozen guys to choose from.

Even Tom Timmerman was Tiger of the Year once. Once.

Timmerman happened to be the only Tigers player that I ever have received an autograph from but it happened b/c he walked by me and a couple of my teenaged friends @ Tiger Stadium who did ask for it, I didn't but Tom wrote his on a piece of scrap paper and handed it to me.

I think this is just Buster going out on a limb. Dombrowski almost never hints at a possible deal or a trade target until it's done. Heck he even said he was not negotiating with Verlander during the season....that guy has the best poker face in all of baseball.
