MLS Expansion in Detroit

Why is this seemingly not even in the pipeline? This area is a hotbed for soccer. The team support would be enough to put the team in the top half of the league in attendance IMO. Instead you see cities like Atlanta, Orlando and now maybe Minneapolis get teams.

What is the hold up?

They had a site for a soccer complex intended for an MLS and USL team but Dan Gilbert won the site instead for some entertainment/retail complex. They don't want to bring MLS without a new site (No Pontiac or Cobo type moves).
