Probably a bit early, but I decided to do one for the NFL this year. I'll update this once a week and post about some of the closer races in the NFC.

we need to win the division....I don't want to compete with CAR/SF/SEA for a wild card.

Carolina on fire has made the WC more intriguing. so, we need to win the division. IMO, I see GB out by the time Rodgers comes back. Hopefully McCown doesn't become a stud and we can grab the division.

It's refreshing to see a playoff thread instead of a draft thread. We need the secondary to step up and gel if we want to go deep into the playoffs.

No doubt. If I look at the teams who could torch us by the pass, Carolina and New Orleans are at the top of the list. Seattle IMO would thump us.

I think we can compete with SF and certainly an NFC East team.

Added conference records for tie-breaker reference

Also here are the head-to-head advantages between the current playoff teams,

N/A = Do not play each other

Seattle - New Orleans (TBD - Week 13), Detroit (N/A), Dallas (N/A), Carolina (1-0), San Francisco (1-0, 2nd game Week 14)

New Orleans - Seattle (TBD - Week 13), Detroit (N/A), Dallas (1-0), Carolina (TBD - Week 14 & 16), San Francisco (TBD - Week 11)

Detroit - Seattle (N/A), New Orleans (N/A), Dallas (1-0), Carolina (N/A), San Francisco (N/A)

Dallas - Seattle (N/A), New Orleans (0-1), Detroit (0-1), Carolina (N/A), San Francisco (N/A)

Carolina - Seattle (0-1), New Orleans (TBD - Week 14 & 16), Detroit (N/A), Dallas (N/A), San Francisco (1-0)

San Francisco - Seattle (0-1, 2nd game Week 14), New Orleans (TBD - Week 11), Detroit (N/A), Dallas (N/A), Carolina (0-1)

It's still early, but Dallas and San Francisco look to be at a disadvantage (things could change this upcoming week).

Our Lions dodge most of these teams in the schedule, most likely any tie-break for Detroit will involve conference record.

Flex scheduling starts this week.

Poking around at the TV schedule, not sure if Detroit will factor into any flex scheduling.

@ Pittsburgh and vs TB - obviously not
vs GB - Thanksgiving, can't be moved
@ Philadelphia - potential candidate
vs Baltimore - Monday Night, can't be moved
vs NY Giants and @ Minnesota - probably not, unless either of these teams go on a run

The Week 14 match-up is the only one I think could possibly be moved, however it has to go up against a few other games,

Atlanta @ GB - Currently scheduled, guessing it will be moved out

Other candidates for this week (based on current record/position)
Indy @ Cincy
Carolina @ NO
Seattle @ SF

ya not going to happen week 14 with those other match ups. Ive been happy the last 2 weeks they've been on national TV vs dal and chi out here in SD. Add the turkey day and mon night games and its more than I expected.

Largely irrelevant, but Tampa Bay could be mathematically eliminated from the NFC South tonight.

Losing puts them at 0-9, which means the best they could finish is 7-9

The worst New Orleans could finish is 7-9, which would involve 2 losses to Carolina, and the worst that Carolina would finish in this scenario is 8-8

I'm sure there's some crazy scenario that could result in Tampa Bay making the wild card at 7-9, but I'm not going to bother with it, since it's extremely unlikely, if not impossible

Win the division, get a home playoff game and give ourselves a shot to get the 2nd playoff win of my lifetime.

This could be an enormous week towards that if we somehow beat Pitt and GB loses to the Giants...both very possible.

Updated

Only team left to play this week is Carolina tomorrow night

Only one change to playoff positions, Philadelphia winning has pushed them ahead of idle Dallas.

SF is now tied with Arizona and Chicago, but SF has the tiebreaker over both (head-to-head over Arizona and conference record over Chicago)

I'd have to check around, but I'm pretty sure a Carolina win tomorrow night eliminates both Tampa and Atlanta. New Orleans losing out would involve 2 losses to Carolina, who would have at least 9 wins in that scenario.

A Carolina loss tomorrow night may throw a wrench into everything.

Looking at all the options here, a Carolina loss puts them at 6-4.

Arizona has beaten Carolina, lost to SF
SF has beaten Arizona, lost to Carolina
Carolina has beaten SF, lost to Arizona
Chicago has played none of these teams

Conference Records
Carolina 6-2
SF 3-3
Arizona 4-4
Chicago 3-4

Carolina would have the best conference record and would remain the top WC seed and SF would remain the 2nd with a head-to-head advantage over Arizona and conference record advantage over Chicago.

So from the looks of it, the outcome of tomorrow night's game won't effect the standings for now.

Week 12 looks fairly uninteresting as far as immediate impact goes

New Orleans @ Atlanta* (TNF)
Minnesota @ Green Bay*
Dallas @ NY Giants*
Tampa Bay @ Detroit
Chicago @ St. Louis
San Francisco @ Washington (MNF)

Dallas @ NY is probably the biggest game out of the bunch

the team were tied with is in 8th place....but keep feeling good about your 1st place and keep being blinded about what is reality.

You're such a mental midget...lol. Reality is that we're in FIRST place in the North. 8th place?? Why even say that? What are you confused about? Win the North is what they have to do. Who gives a fuck that we have the same record as the Bears? We have the tiebreaker over them. Holy shit, do you need help tying your fn shoes in the morning or what??

Basically no room for error now as long as the Bears keep winning is what Hughes is saying.
