As far as vets, there is a big scandal brewing in the VA, in particular the VA hospital in Phoenix. There is allegedly a cover-up regarding the treatment or more accurately the lack thereof of ill vets, some who have died as a result. The Feds are demanding the emails and internal documentation.

They've apparently been terrible about treating vets for a while now. My friend is a psychiatrist and I remember 6 -7 years ago he was telling me they couldn't treat obvious PTSD cases without the VA releasing their records... Which the VA would often not do. It would take congressional intervention in most cases.

The military just chews em up and spits em out.

We all like the idea of a bumper sticker that says support the troops but then when it comes time to actually do it they end up not getting the treatment they need. We let them throw out a first pitch at a baseball game though, so hey, everything is good, right?
