It's so stupid that MSU (and OSU) fans keep crying about sign stealing and cheating.
For one thing, IT WAS OPEN AND KNOWN AND STALLIONS WAS FIRED BEFORE WE BEAT BOTH OF THOSE PROGRAMS! So you're really saying "
it's not fair because my team is too stupid to account for the fact that another team might have figured out our signs,"
... yet you play in stadiums in front of thousands of fans on national fucking television, with cameras all over the place!
For another thing that's
WILLFULLY ignoring the fact that plenty of other coaches and commenters have come out and said that sign stealing was a well established tactic and everybody does it. it was widely reported (
here,
here, and
here, for three examples from major media outlets) that other Big Ten schools had been doing this to Michigan on a much more efficient and organized manner than anything Stallions did.
Just stop pretending and come out and say "
I'm such a blind Michigan hater that I am incapable of logic, reason or independent thought when it comes to anything about their University and Program."
From Sports Illustrated, as reported by Fox Sports:
What's more effective? A written report of signs and plays ready to be used? or 4 hours of uncut iphone footage that has to be watched and reviewed and then analyzed carefully?
And this had been apparently going on for YEARS. I doubt very much it just started in 2020...
The bigger question in my mind is: WHY did so much of the college sports media repeat these allegations, without questioning who was promoting them and why, given that it was widely known that this practice was not unique to Michigan, and if anything, Connor Stallions operation was bush league compared to what AT LEAST Ohio St., Purdue, Illinois and Rutgers were doing and sharing about Michigan?
