Nice Leshoure Update

Dr. Bob Anderson informed Mikel Leshoure that his Achilles surgery was one of the better procedures he's performed and the injury is healing perfectly.
Leshoure is regaining strength in his calf and Achilles. Although he's yet to run full-speed sprints or cuts, Leshoure's lower leg feels good after jogging and running half-gassers. Leshoure is making no guarantees on training camp, but insists he will be "100 percent to go" in time for the season opener.

It'll be interesting to see what the Lions brass thinks of his progress. If they don't pick up a RB in FA or early in the draft, then they probably think he'll be ready.

Running back Mikel Leshouresat at the edge of a small indoor running pool, splashing water with his feet, getting ready to start another long day of rehab at the Lions' practice facility in Allen Park Tuesday morning.

It's been a lengthy process of surgery and rehab to get to this point for the Lions' second-round draft pick last season. However, Leshoure says he can finally see the light at the end of his tunnel to recovery.

"My body feels good," he said. "I'm going to turn it up a little bit more a month or so from now, but my body feels good. I'm getting my strength back in my calf muscle and my Achilles.

"I'm feeling pretty good when I run; I have no soreness or anything like that

The biggest shock in this entire report is that avril made a stop in the run game. I had no doubt in my mind that after 8 months he would be able to put his feet in water and splash.

Unfortunately for Mikel, tearing up his achilles was the worst possible injury that a "power" RB could have sustained, outside of one that was absolutely career-ending (and it may still be yet, at least until he is on the gridiron for a regular-season game). He does have his youth and relatively low football "mileage" on his body, so perhaps he may be able to mostly, if not fully recover from it. Lions still do have to ensure that they have "decent" alternatives to both, if Best and Leshoure fail to work out, as the team has now become legit and genuine contenders, and are no longer bottom-feeders.

I liked that he traveled with the team and did his homework in the film room during the year.

Mayhew is willing to consider "street guys"? FUCK YEAH!!! See ya later boys, time for this old man to get into game shape!!! My 40 can be timed by the sun, but there's always a chance, right???

The achilles injury isnt quite the career ender it used to be. Hopefully he can come back and get back to looking as good as he did early in camp last year. I think he could have been a pretty big contributor this year but such is life.
