No protection for running QB's

The NFL made it clear today that QB's running the read option or carrying out a running fake can be hit like any other player. The only time a QB gets extra protection is when they are passing the ball.

In my opinion it has to be this way because otherwise defending the read option would be almost impossible because the defenders would be afraid to even tackle the QB. I saw an interview with Jim Harbaugh and he about threw a fit. He said that QB's should be protected no matter what.
