The Vest?

Colts owner Jim Irsay flew to Florida on Friday and while there discussed the team's head-coaching job with former Ohio State Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel for a second time, according to reports.

Tressel, who resigned in May after an NCAA scandal that enveloped the Ohio State football program, was hired by former Colts coach Jim Caldwell in September to be a game-day consultant in a role that allowed him to work from the team's coaches booth and advise Caldwell about replay reviews.

Tressel didn't begin his duties until the seventh game of the season.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said he would have suspended Tressel if the Colts didn't make him sit out games to start the 2011 season.

On Friday morning, Irsay flew to Sarasota, Fla., where Tressel owns a home, according to the Indianapolis Star, and according to WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, a second interview was conducted.

Irsay has gutted the Colts' front office and coaching staff after their 2-14 season, and Caldwell was fired Tuesday, two days before eight assistant coaches were let go.

Well I won't have to worry about any of my family members remaining Colts fans if they hire Tressel.

Going to be hard for the vest to coach in the NFL. He can't bribe the players into coming to Indy like he did at Ohio.

yeah, silver lining. I'm guessing there are some ohio fans in parts of indiana that are thrilled.

This will add more hate to the Colts that I already have if it happens.

Unlike college, all the players get paid in the NFL. Saban should call Tressel and let him know how it works out.

this needs to be repeated.

when you're biggest advantage in college comes from the fact that you have boosters steering superior talent to your program, and that advantage disappears in the pros, it's unlikely you'll be able to duplicate the success you had at the college level.

kinda surprised Irsay would be interested in a turd like Tressel in the 1st place. Irsay seemed a little more intelligent than the avg. owner.

So I would think he would see right through Tressel's "winning record," esp. in light of the high profile mediocre results from guys like Pete Carroll, Nick Saban, and Steve Spurrier when they moved to the NFL.
