Panthers sign CB Chris Houston

My boy is back. Good signing Carolina. Pick off Rodgers a few times

Houston has been in the league for 7 years and has 13 picks. I doubt he picks off AR twice in one game. Hell...he probably won't even get much playing time. He sucks!

Houston is that guy who drives coaches crazy. He actually, IMO, seems to be a solid cover CB who has some really good physical tools.

However, he is probably one of the single worst CB's I've ever seen playing the ball. He almost literally cannot see it/find it/ or is aware it even exists.

I think he could find a "second career" as a slot guy. I can see him having some success in that role.

But he isn't picking anyone off twice......certainly not AR.

He would have a better shot at jerking Rodgers off twice in a game than picking him off twice in a game.

However, in 2011, he had 5 INTs. He had some balls skills and was opportunistic. He did have a pick against Rodgers in that 28-26 loss to Green Bay, and a second pick was negated by a penalty, so I can't say it's impossible.

I thought he was a good sign, and cheap at the time. 2 years later I wanted him gone. And finally understand when Falcon fans were saying about not able to turn around..But at the time it was a good pickup.

Houston was the 23rd ranked CB in 2011 and 2012 out 109 and 113 CBs respectively. Slay was 19th in 2014 for comparison. Those are the kind of seasons Houston had.

Houston was hurt twice in 2013 and played through some of them giving up some big gainers because of it. You all remember the hurt Houston only it appears. The 2011 and 2012 Houston was good for Detroit on 3 mil per deal (2 year 6 million signed in 2011). The 2010 Houston was solid on the last year of his rookie deal after trading a 6th and future 7th. Cheap trade in 2010 on a rookie deal. Then we re-signed him in 2013 to 5 years 25 million (with Miami and Patriots sniffing around in the three day window). Of course after the big 5 mil per deal he gets hurt in 2013.

Basically he got hurt and Mayhew wanted the cap room last year. We got the most out of him in 2010-2012. 2013 injuries happen.

Geez if guys like that were so good you'd wonder why we didn't win a few more games.

I'll say this much, when and if the Lions ever win the big one, the Ford family is going to create rings the size of an F-150.

That's going to be one they want to flaunt forever, cause it will likely take that long to do it again.

I'll openly admit that I thought Jonte Green was going to turn into something special.
