Seems everyone views getting Robinson in R7 as a steal, but in LKP's redo draft thread many are picking Collins in R7, saying it would be worth the risk.

If Robinson wasn't available, does anyone think Mayhew might have risked picking Collins?

I personally doubt it due to Mayhew picking pretty much only extremely high character guys. That factor alone makes it doubtful to me. Not that Collins is low character, but the fact he was the father of the baby would have raised enough character concerns that I doubt Mayhew would have ever drafted him.

I will go a little further to say if Collins does play in NFL this year, Robinson will have the better career. I think the best move for Collins right now is to get a max payday 1 year deal in another league where he dominates, then gets a max payday the next year with an NFL team. I'm just not sure his ego is willing to try that route, which is another character piece.

I never heard of any character issues about him prior to that woman getting killed. If she doesn't get killed he is most likely a 1st or 2nd round guy.

Fox had significant injury issue that he never really overcame. I'm not aware of that or other issue with Robinson.

Robinson was weight issues. 345 during school. Down to 318 now. Said he's changed his eating lifestyle. Maybe he can get Fairley's personal chef.

What am I missing here? Why exactly is L'ael Collins not a high character guy? If he's not a suspect, what am I missing?

NFL being too cautious now after some low character guys like Rice, Hernandez, Peterson, Hardy ruined it for everybody.

Was there anything during his college career that made people question his character?

Is Collins sticking to his "year off and re-enter the draft" plan? If not, is there any actual reason the Lions shouldn't be bringing him in?

Lol, maybe. Still doesn't say anything bad about Collins. If this kid is clear of any wrong doing, and is a 1st round talent, I don't see why we wouldn't go all in on this kid. I'm officially on board, barring an breaking news tying him to the crime. With him, we officially have one of the best olines in the NFL, and depth, imo. I would definitely praise Mayhew for this signing. 2 1st round talent offensive linemen picked up, and depth (or starting center) would make him look pretty damn smart. Talk about addressing a need

Good friend went to/follows LSU and says he was a pretty stund up guy. No issues through college. Horrible timing for him. Rumor around campus is that if/when he is cleared he will sign with the Saints

It was my understanding if he was drafted he could refuse to sign and then be eligible to re enter in 16

Teams got scared off late because of what his agent said. had someone drafted him late he then could have sat out and been put back into the 2016 draft like Bo Jackson did bacvk in the day. But because he wasnt drafted he cant do that. I think the Lions have called him but he is a UDFA and its up to him who he signs with.

Thought the NFL already made it clear he cannot enter the 2016 NFL draft??

Had someone drafted him, he could have declined to sign the contract and then been available/eligible for a second draft in 2016. By being undrafted, he was not eligible for 2016. Kind if odd, but that's what I read. He can only sign as an UDFA.
