I just happened to look at some sack statistics for this season and they seem extremely high. Jason Babin at 18 and Jared Allen with 17.5 and a few others with 13 and 14.

well someone had 2 make up for lions below expectation numbers

Lions had 44 last season. 38 so far this season, not far off.

Btw, that's 7th in the league. Also, they have more INT than last season, which is 3rd.

Surprisingly they are not better in the Fumbles Recovered aspect this year. I would have bet money on a higher FR number than last year by at least 5 with the improvements at LB and Fairley (though that would have been with belief Fairley would be healthier). Not that being 3rd on the FR list is bad with 12, their Forced Fumbles number being 16 compared to last year's 26 is a surprise to me.

Still last year they were only +4 on turnovers and this year they are +11, trailing only SF and GB (both of whom are in the 20 range which there hasn't been a team with that size differential in years, let alone 2 teams at that level). I'd venture a guess that teams with double digit advantages in TOs are playoff teams over 90% of the time.

If Staff hadn't had that 2-3 week glove - finger fiasco Detroit might be on the +20 side as well. I know Detroit didn't have a fumble until like week 8 or 9. Not sure how many they have now.

Btw, Detroit is 2nd in fumble recveries. Behind SF. Not bad.
