SDSU Broken Down (Quickly)

Just looking quickly, I am reassured this next game is going to be a fight. They are 24th in the nation in rushing, Their starting OL probably averages 295. Ryan Lindley looks like he could pose a treat in the passing game. I really think the SDSU offense looks solid. Should test the UM Defense.

The good news, is SDSU is allowing 21.7 points per game. Their D-Line looks small. I am sure they are quick, but I like our chances in a shoot out.

Just my thoughts, feel free to agree or bash if you want.

Well, a lot of people are saying that SDSU is going to be tough because they handled Washington State...Let's not forget that WSU is 2-11, 1-11, and 2-10 the last 3 seasons

They did squeak by Army and Army just beat Northwestern.

Really, I have no idea how tough this game is going to be. I expect Michigan to win, though.

Oh Im with you, I expect UM to win. I just like to see Michigan handle their opponents with ease. As exciting as the ND game was, I would like to go back to the days of old when I wouldn't even think twice about UM playing a team like SDSU.

if they use the 3-3-5 extensively, maybe it's a good chance for us to do some damage from the i-set consistently... run up the gut, work in some tosses, play action tosses to the FB.

I'm a bit worried about this game because of Ronnie Hillman. He's a really good RB and our D has not stopped the run at all the past two weeks. We just gave up over 200 yards rushing to EMU and Hillman is a lot better than any of their backs. The d-line just does not look good at all to me. I wish Will Campbell could step up and get on the field more because the line needs him desperately.

On the positive side, I'm pretty sure UM will be able to put up points. They've given up at least 20 points in every game and they haven't played the most explosive offenses on earth. Given up 21 to Cal Poly is not a ringing endorsement for their defense. If UM can get off to a good start, then they should be able to control the game for the most part but SDSU will stay within striking distance (7-14 points).

The D hasn't stopped the run at all? Sure, they've looked suspect in the first 20 minutes of all 3 games, then they buckled down and shut down the run for the other 40 minutes in all 3 games. This myth has got to be stopped.

I'm sorry but they have given up 405 yards of rushing offense in the past two games. No matter when those yards happen, that's terrible. I don't think they can afford to be that bad again this weekend and they certainly can't afford to be that bad in the Big 10.

With that being said, I do understand where you are coming from because the defense has been able to make adjustments and greatly improve after slow starts. I am as happy as anyone about the in-game adjustments being made this season. Something we haven't seen for three years. They just can't afford to continually get off to slow starts like this against better competition.

I would say in 2006 and going into 2007 you wouldn't worry about SDSU. No one worried about any non BCS school until the App St. and Toledo accidents.

No idea of how good SDSU is but I'm kind of expecting a repeat of like the Umass game last year. We give up a ton of yards n scores but they cant stop us. I dont expect the D to get carved up like that game but we still get the ball moved on us frequently. Hopefully Mich can cause some turnovers.

As I said this is just a shot in the dark guess. Not a clue about SDSU other than what I've read here.

This game worries me because of the unknown factor. And they could be motivated to beat Hoke seeing he left them for us. I am a little worried about our rush defense but I think it has gotten better. EMU was afraid to throw it seemed so all they did was run. ND did run at will until the 4th.

Yeah, no one worried, but that feeling wasn't warranted as Michigan played Utah to a 10-7 decision or several other examples. SDSU isn't a MAC team or an FCS team.

SDSU is going to try their hardest to win the game. They would be doing that anyway, whether the coach of Michigan was their former head coach or not. Its silly to say that they are more motivated, because of Hoke. I'm sure they would be motivated anyway.
