SI Bowl Predictions

I'm hoping for the outback bowl or a BCS bid. If we get a BCS bid that means we beat OSU - so I don't care that we would get destroyed by a likely much better team in a BCS bowl. And outside of that I think the outback bowl gives us the best chance to beat a decent team.

I would love this, and on my birthday no less!!

Jan. 2 Capital One: Georgia (SEC No. 2) vs. Michigan (Big Ten No. 2)

The Outback wouldn't be bad either. And you have to laugh at the projected bowl for Sparty!

Dec. 30 Insight: Baylor (Big 12 No. 4) vs. Michigan State (Big Ten No. 4)

Honestly, this is how I see it playing out. MSU and Wisconsin end up in the championship game. Wisconsin beats MSU and goes to the rose bowl - sending Sparty to the Capitol one bowl (I'm not sure why they would predict the insight bowl given it's almost certain MSU heads to the championship game). I don't see Michigan beating Nebraska so I think Nebraska wins out and gets the 2nd BCS bid. Michigan ends up in either the insight or outback bowl with PSU getting the other bowl bid. And then you can just go down the list from there on.

Since I moved here in '93 I've been waiting for the bowl when we play Georgia. We'd have a big ol' time inviting Bulldog fans over for the game!

Yeah, I thought that was strange that they had Sparty dropping so far. Maybe they think IU and NU will knock them off.

Some seem to think that if UM wins out, they get an at-large BCS bowl. As great as that would be, it seems UM would get killed. I see UM winning out considering how NU and OSU have played and the conference record on tough road games. The Big House should be rocking the next two weekends, and Hoke and Co. will have the boys ready to play.

Why doesn't your owner get a hat, too?

I want a wvu vs michigan bowl game

How do Florida and Ohio get, essentially, a New Years Day bowl? Really? A 5-5 Florida team constitutes(predicts) an after New years game.

Just so it can be sold as the "Urban Meyer Bowl" and the weeks leading up to the game will be spent talking about whether Meyer will be the next coach at Ohio*

And as a 'rematch' of that super-awesome Fiesta Bowl BCS Title game where Ginn ran back the opening kick and that ended the highlight reel for the buckeyes.

I think they probably saw a 7-5 Michigan team get one last year, and they figure fan support matters more than record for bowl selection purposes once you get outside the BCS.

With IU & NU remaining on the sched, I don't know how any reasonable person could predict MSU would be anything less than the B1G #2 team.

Well we got a Jan 1 bowl last year and didnt deserve it. The bowls want team names they really dont care what the record is. As far as the bowl bids go I believe the Bowls can choose a team. The Cap 1 bowl does not have to take the best B10 team not in a BCS game they just have first choice.

Oh, I totally thought UM shouldn't have gone to a Jan 1 bowl. It was nice to get, (because we're fans) but having only one game over bowl eligibility, shouldn't be a reward for New Years Day. That being said, it would probably be a good matchup.

You like that don't you?

call me crazy, but I don't think we get killed in a BCS game.

Was looking at the AP Poll & BCS poll the other day. I doubt we're beating any of the Top 10 teams on that list from the Big XII, or SEC anytime soon, but I don't think we'd get blown off the field.

gotta figure the underdog factor works in our favor. a lot easier to play well when you know no one is giving you a chance. takes the pressure off.

i hate talking about bowls with two difficult games to go

I'll take a crack at translation.

"I think Outback is best one. Second Big Ten BCS should go to loser of championship game if they play a good game."
