SI ranks all 32 starting QB's. Stafford ranked.......

If they protect him properly, he'll be top 5 again.

There are 15+ QB's that could say the same thing. Just about any NFL QB could pick you apart with enough time. It's a weak argument when trying to reason why he currently sits outside the top 5.

Try again.

I didn't say great protection. I meant normal protection with normal run support. Like Wilson and Big Ben and Rivers get.

Stafford deserves the 2015 Lions to stay as healthy as possible after what he dealt with in 2012-2014.

Stafford already proved he is a top 5 elite QB with protection and healthy weapons.

Stafford plays actually the same as 2013/2014 in 2015 and he could have 40 TDs again.

he was never top 5...how can he be top 5 again?

They have him right about where I would rank him...middle of the pack...very slightly above average.

Ill rank him where is QBR and QB ratings rank him....most recently its been behind guys like orton and Fitzpatrick. If he improves....then his qb rating and QBR will improve and he will be better than 22nd like he was ranked last year. He should be putting up top 10 numbers at this point. I don't want to hear anything about training wheels and learning systems and run game and protection and weapons and injuries and weather. Just be top 10. Im very black and white when it comes to Stafford....hes had 1 great year, a couple bad years, a couple injury plagued years and an average year or two. Pretty underwhelming for a #1 overall. Not a disaster like the ryan leafs and jamarcus russels of the world....but underwhelming to say the least.

Give me Cam Newton all day, every day. Better career QBR, throwing to the corpse of Steve Smith and Greg Olsen for basically the last four seasons, and has a ton of rushing yards to his name.

#13-#18 You could pretty much put in any order and you wouldn't receive many complaints.

The young guys: Bortles, Carr, Bridgewater could all fall into that group as well or possibly jump it after this season. Still a little early to judge.

Stafford was an elite QB in 2011. He had weapons, run support and protection that year. And he was very good in 2013 and 2014 despite what the numbers say.

QBR, QB rating. These are team stats no matter the injuries.

Protection, run game, turnover support, number of healthy weapons that get separation and hold onto the ball all play into these stats.

Stafford is a borderline top 5 QB right now. Big Ben, Rivers, Matt Ryan, Romo, Stafford. All in the same TIER.

Stafford is good. Not slightly above average, average or bad. He is a good QB.

I'd be thrilled if he was top 13. He's more like 18-20 at the moment. And the most important thing he hasn't led us to shit. Ton's of QB that are playing now have won SB, lost SB, won playoff games. He ain't shit until he does something in the playoffs.. You can call it a team sport and all that but a QB needs to take upon himself to get the wins in the post season.

I've said this before but when is the last time, or how often have any of us thought - Matt led us to victory? He put the team on his shoulders and got us a W? Matt is not 2011. His career is one great year and several not so good years. He's a slightly better version of Scott Mitchell.

You forgot normal health! In all seriousness, I'm okay with #13. Seems like a good middle between the guys (like myself) that are down on his progression and the Stafford boosters that think this (and every year prior) is the one where he takes the next step.

top 10 guys win despite all the excuses. Stafford still loses because of all the excuses. Last year the defense was good enough to cover up his flawed play and lead us to 11 wins. If the defense wasn't that good we would of heard the same ol, line cant block, injuries, weapons didn't help him, no run support, stories that we heard the 3 seasons prior to that.

Top 10 guys get protection and run support or massive turnover support (see terrible Russel Wilson in 2013). Top 10 guys either have healthy weapons or better number 3 and number 4 weapons to offset an injury.

terrible Russel Wilson in 2013? What are you talking about?

Steve Smith is hardly a corpse lol. And Olsen is a beast. And now he has BigK to throw to. You act like Newton has nothing....try again

# 13 is a good spot for him. The hate continues over here though lol

Consider that some starting QB get injured, 13 is right in the middle. Maybe that's where he fits but it doesn't mean we have to like it.

But 13 isn't right in the middle. Your math is fucking terrible. Injuries don't count and it wasn't a factor on why his number is 13. Are you kidding me? lol. He's 13 because of injuries now? Jesus Christ, you really pulled that one out of your ass eh, bud lol.
And who cares if you don't like it? 13 is a good spot for him. I had him between 11-15th best. That's great "considering" the talent at QB in the NFL.

Top ten guys win despite the excuses? Wtf has Romo, Ryan, Rivers and Luck won?
